Is anybody familiar with these? I found a good used pair I would like to throw on the front of her Jetta for the rest of the winter. Does anybody have any experience or stories?

they do
unfortunately they're only offered in smaller sizes. (mostly 15s)
They work great. I know a guy who uses them.

They are going on the stock Avus wheels on her Jetta so the 15 is fine. Any comments on road noise or sidewall squirm or handling?

I have friends in the SCCA who swear by them! Especially some of the Saab driving ice-racing guys. I've driven on them (in a friend's car) and found them to be very good. Similar to a studded tire, but doesn't destroy the roads as much.

Heard good things about them when I lived in WI. They're basically a regular tire that's been remanufactured into a high quality snow tire. If you can get them I'd go for it, but definitely on all 4 wheels, not just the fronts.

2 used tires off-brand tires for 2 months? Roll the dice or don't - if you are concerned about driving dynamics or handling get something you know is good; otherwise just run 'em and not care.

They would be taken off in April and maybe used again. They are replacing some turrible Coopers that don't lie to hold air right now. They will cost me very little so I will report back on my findings.
