its only his girls car. i mean she's not even really worthy of 4 matching tires.
Well, in all fairness only half of the car fits in the kitchen.

"Due to the dramatic difference in traction between Green Diamond Tires and ordinary tires, Green Diamond Tires must be installed on all four wheel positions of all-wheel drive and front-wheel drive vehicles."

I looked for Green Diamonds for my Jetta a few months ago, but couldn't find any reliable info on where they are sold or if they are even available. The company website is up and down like... Well, anyway...

I ended up with the Altimax Arctic.

and there is this little detail;

"Mounting your GDTs before the winter season is a very good idea!

Due to the 45,000 mile tread compound now used to build GDTs, please allow 1,000 to 1,500 miles for the initial run-in period to expose the silicium carbide granules to an optimal level"

or maybe it's more "marketing"...

CL for a used set of snows from someone local...

Please tell me your joking.......please.
Why, they aren't studded and they aren't chains. What can it possibly hurt? Please tell me.

Can you honestly tell me you have never heard of somebody running snow tires just on drive wheels?

Wow...not even sure where to begin, but the difference in traction is definetely noticeable. So on a front wheel drive care. The fronts grip and the rear will just come around. True snow tires are softer in colder weather than traditional tires. It's just not a good idea. Especially for your spouse's car.

I am sure she will be fine just going to and from work. You will be the first to know in the event that she could dead.

-Yeah, sure, but I survived for years with front snows on a fwd car. Just be aware of the lack of traction at the rear.

-On the other hand, you have a point. I put front snows on my wife's car so she slammed on the brakes, the rear came around and she ended up in a ditch. Soooo I bought her two more matching tires for the rear. :banghead:

Well I ordered them directly from there web site and installed them myself. My experience with them was good, quick shipment. I had a problem with bubbling on one of my tires and they shipped me a new one without question. They ride ok, it is a winter tire not a performance tire. I have found over the last 10,000 mile or so that they don't ware very evenly eve with a fresh alignment and regular rotation. They are a bit noisy on smooth pavement. But they do grip very well on wet and snow covered pavement. Overall would I buy them again? Possibly. There poor wear characteristics and noise on dry pavement are a bit of a letdown. I would have been just as fine on a set of cheaper General altimax arctic or Hankook Ipikes. If being green is important and great customer service than Green Diamond is for you. There tires work well i just think they are a bit to pricey,.

you can't put 4 "cheap" snows on the wife's car?

They are used and very cheap. FYI I am a student with a baby on the way and not alot of cash. I was just searching for two regualr tires but these fell in my lap.

my wife and I don't have jobs and we have a set of snows for our car as it's our only ride for the school schlep for our daughter...

CL a set, tirerack a set as 15's are going to be reasonably priced, put 4 on the car... it's your wife with one on the way.

how is this hard?

or are you in a marginal snow area?

Seriously? No need to be condescending.

I go to school and don't work right now. Money is limited. I don't have $300+ for a set of snows. The car is getting it's TB service right now which is eating up our car maintenance budget and then some. I have some different snows for the rear, I am not sure which will be better.

seriously? there's no need to be a smartass when people question putting 2 cheap snow tires on when you say it's your wife's daily and she's pregnant.

money's tight for most people, CL a set of snows, or do the right thing and figure out how to get a set of 4 if you are that worried as you are the one that asked, not us...

and how convenient you suddenly have 2 for the rear suddenly when that wasn't mentioned once when anyone else went  to only mounting only 2...

we all have problem's.
