i did reprogramed my remote after two months of not using it ( place new batteries) and everything seemed to go ust fine , but then when i tried starting the car i placed the key in the ignition and the key just spins freely, the radio will work but it seems like there is something loose because the key just goes once in there .... i dont know if ithas to do with re-rograming the fob .... please anybody that has any info that might help lmk ... thanks a lot ..... i dont know if its the ignition cylinder that broke or hs to do with the remote ... thanks in avance

it does not spin the whole 360 but just as far as it usually goes but key wont grab to anything

so no resistance on the key when you roll it forward?
leads me to 2 things
1. Ignition Switch
2. Lock and Cylinder
do you get that light?

no my car does not have that immobilizer syst... pulled the switch and found out the tab that goes in it is broken ... hope thats what is causing the problem ....i have been trying to remove the ignition cylinder by following instructions in the manual ( using a paper clip in and turning key to start position to release it ) but im not having any luck ... any tricks on doing this??? Thanks a lot for responding

its a 99.5 mk4 ..... i was researching amd read thats what you do for the mk3 but thats as far as i know ... manual says the trick is inserting a flattened paper clip but i have been trying for a while amd nothing ...
