Bought a Die-hard in 2007, I realize that's 6 years so it's time to replace it.
It's needed replacing for about 2 years, never used it that often. Don't think I got my money's worth out of it, but part of that is my fault for not driving my rocco more often.

Well that time has changed, so I went to Sears, and they don't carry a "42" model for the Scirocco anymore - has to be custom ordered.

WTF??

It's not a very common size for a battery. Very few vehicles use it. Try a group 47, it's a similar size and much more common.

Iroc- where you at? I may come over that way - any price discount?

My car may be pre tty but the battery tray is not - it's the only thing on hte car that absolutely NEEDS replacing and I just never got around to it....

Ya walmart has it for $82, looked yesterday - and I might just go do that tomorrow, weather dependent - they are carrying Johnson Control batteries too, very good from what I understand.

I work in Bothell. Probably a little far for you.

Your local Napa will have them too and if you're a AAA member you get a 7% discount.

Price wise I think a group 41 and 42 are the same, so you could benefit from getting a group 41.

A battery tender is also a good idea if you don't use the car very often. Or at the very least a battery disconnect switch.

Ya I get over that way occasionally but unless there's some VW event probably not :)

Since I restored the car I plan to leave it in the driveway more often, I have a truck canopy to repaint in the garage, a rowboat to restore....so it's time to start driving it!!! :)

17 years I've had this car, she's 99% restored...Gotta drive her!! :)

Hehe, I sell lots of group 42's. In stock.

You can use a group 41 too though, just a little longer and more cranking power.
You sell auto part's.
I cant find a fuel filter,exh gasket's,what else.
I have a Interstate megatron 2 MT-47.
The heat WILL kill it with in 3 years. So at the 34th month I will try to swap it out again.
I have warantied it once already.
110 dollars out the door.
Oh I got it from the Interstate Battery store it self, not a independent service station.

This. I've had betteries become completely useless after letting them drain just once, even when fairly new. Not just cars but when my mower sat all winter.

I don't want a bunch of battery tenders lying around, so I start everything once a month, which works well.

Battery

I have a Deka battery In my 911. Installed It In '99 with a negative terminal cut off switch and It Is still cranking. First five years It was outside for all four seasons, covered of course. A $10 terminal cut off Is the way to go If It's not your daily driver.

Batteries are a wear item in cars. Even if you don't use the car, it will still corrode internally.

In fact, if you don't use it often - the battery will wear out sooner. Keeping the battery fully charged is important to the length of its life.

Battery technology has advanced a bit since our cars were produced. Now a much smaller battery can put out WAY more power than required. Even some motorcycle batteries are capable of starting a Scirocco.
