my car will sit in a body shop for an exuberant amount of time until it's perfect...why would you ever accept anything less than perfection looks like a paint code screw up but they should have known that. Never deal with them again.

yeah blending on a car that new is only hiding their mistake. if your paint was old and faded then you blend. but hey it could be worse. at least you didnt give a shop $1k down to start working on your car and find out a week later when you go to pick your car up they went out of business and your car is sitting in the shop covered in dust completely untouched. (not that this happened to me a long time ago with another car i owned or anything:banghead:)

That looks terrible.

There is no way that is the same paint code as the rest of the car. I know red fades pretty easily with sun, but there is still no way that is the same base color.

I don't think there's any scenario where your car is faded enough to warrant needing to blend into the rest of the car. They spray it with the right color and it should be so damn close that nobody would even notice.

I'd be taking that back and showing them how terrible it looks.

FWIW, I had my 07 CW GTI votex bumper sprayed 6 months ago, and you can't tell that it didn't get sprayed at the factory with the rest of the car.

I think you really should fight that based on the fact that you offered to leave the car. They were wrong, plain and simple, to think that they could match it properly with a mirror cap. You paid a hell of a lot of money for a job to be done which was done WRONG. You are not the expert, they are (in theory) and since they used their "expertise" to determine the color from a mirror cap (and determined painfully wrong) they are at fault. Sorry about your luck man, I hate getting screwed by shady shops.

Good deal or not, you still paid for a job to be done. It's their fault for not asking for the car unless you explicitly said "match it to mirror". Good luck.

EDIT: And yeah, what shop is it?

SO updated, I called them and told them that I wanted the bumper resprayed and that it had to match, no blending it into the fenders. He said the best he could do is $350, screw it at this point, I'm sick of fighting with the guy.

It's executive auto saloon in philly, I hate to bad mouth them because the guys real nice but I don't want to see anyone else get screwed.

Not much of a choice I'm gonna have them redo it but I told him that if it was anything but perfect I wasn't giving him a thing (not that I should have had to pay again). They do a nice paint job but obviously don't match it always...

unless anyone has any other advice??

Well since the bad mouthing plan didn't work for you.. I don't know. Who cares if hes a "nice guy" you are getting ripped off. They agreed to do work for you without needing the car there and they ****ed up. That's their fault.. unless you gave them the wrong paint code than its your fault.

My thought is that there's no use getting any more worked up about it, I just want it done at this point. They screwed me, and I just want it done at this point. If I go anywhere else they'll have to do a whole new paint mixing vs tinting what they already have. Buyer beware I guess, avoid this place if you're in the philly area (as if I need to tell anyone that).

i can tell you from my issue is that going to court is a hassle and there is no guarantee you will get your $$ or win and besides it will cost you $$ to file the lawsuit on top of the $$ you lost. if $$ is tight and this guy wont fix it go somewhere else. dont give him even more of your $$.
