I just picked up a CPO 2008 2.0T Komfort and I had a few questions. I did search :p but some of the threads were pretty old so I wanted to confirm the results were still valid.

#1 - Auto Hold - I've had the car "lurch" several times on me so far. It always re-grabs though. Mostly level pavement and sitting at a stop light or in line for something. Search seems to indicate this is me not having enough brake pressure when auto hold engages, i.e. letting off the brake as I come to a stop so auto hold has less to work with. Is that right? If I pump the brakes after AH engages will this go away?

#2 - Parking Brake. Is there a set of conditions where the PB engages automatically when you go to get out of the car? It seems random to me, some times it will engage but sometimes not. I've tried narrowing it down to use of Auto Hold, Seatbelt use vs. Park, etc but I can't seem to find a pattern yet.

#3 - Is the recirc feature of the A/C self-aware? It seems to kick in (by sound, not by indicator light) whenever it feels like it, usually in very hot conditions. It doesn't bother me much but I can hear it kick in uncommanded. Curious mostly.

Thanks! :)

I'm not sure why people us the auto hold for regular driving conditions. it's suppose to be a driver aid when starting from a stop on a steep hill so you don't roll before going from brake to gas. I personally wouldn't rely on it at a stop light. what's wrong with holding your foot on the brake??

the parking brake doesn't engage by itself, it does however adjust. this is the sound you are hearing. it's the brakes adjusting to the wear of the pads.

do you have climatronic or climatic controls? if its climatronic and you have it to "Auto" then it just does it's own thing.

1. Not sure on this one - mine has been fairly predictable. Might take it to the dealer if you can reproduce it.

2. If you have Auto-Hold engaged and come to a complete stop and put the car in Park, the e-brake will automatically engage. If you don't have Auto-Hold engaged, you'll have to manually press the P button.

3. I have the climatronic dual-zone auto A/C and it kicks in when needed if left in AUTO mode but yes, the indicator light will not come on in this mode. When in manual mode I need to engage it myself, of course, which is some super-hot conditions I do. It also comes on when putting the car in reverse.

What I have found is that if you have your seatbelt on and park the car, the PB engages. If you disconnect your seatbelt before you turn the car off - no PB.

Is that the trick? I yet again thought I was losing my mind because I could swear it would engage sometimes and not others. I thought maybe it was when the car thought it was on a hill! You know, German engineering. I'll have to test this one. :)
