Got my 09 GTI through a broker who obviously didn't know the history. I was replacing the springs on the front Koni's and was crawling around looking at the HID levelers when I saw a huge exhaust pipe. So it's the 3" down pipe from APR. I knew it had the carbino intake...so I figure what the hell I'll try changing the program after watching the video on APR. It worked!!

Kinda freakin me out because I don't know the history if the car and its still under warranty. When I take it to my local APR dealer for alignment can they tell me what the programs are? I need 91 octane because I'm in Colorado. I figure its program 2. What about lock codes? Anything else I should know?
Why do you want to call apr. Just go on website and look at the programming tutorial. The only thing you dont know is the lock code and thats not a problem

LOL! comcast internet in Erie is a fail...

reposting of sorts.

the apr dealer you went to, should be able to tell you what the + is in your stage 2 tune... or atleast have a good idea... figured you'd have a s3 intercooler at the least...

hpfp still not needed on CCTA...
Please allow me to provide some info from APR's engineering department...
Based on the information relayed by the OP, it sounds like the solenoid controlled pressure regulating valve (N276), which is integrated into the High-Pressure Fuel Pump, may have failed or experienced intermittent operation.
In reference to the APR TSI (CCTA and CBFA) Stage 1 and Stage 2 software, we do not touch anything related to the fuel pump or fuel pressure control. The fuel rail pressure with the Stage 1 or Stage 2 engine calibration is the same as stock throughout the entire RPM and load ranges. In addition, unless there is already an inherrent malfunction in the specific vehicle, there is no way to add additional “load” onto the solenoid (N276) just because you are chipped.
The solenoid activates only at the beginning of the pump stroke to force the pressure regulating valve into a specific position. As soon as the solenoid fires to actuate the valve, the solenoid is de-energized and will not be used again until the next pump piston stroke. Since the pump stroke has a fixed physical relationship with the exhaust camshaft (on the TSI) AND we have not altered the rail pressure from stock, it is extremely unlikely that the APR software has anything to do with this issue. We simply haven't touched it as there is no need with the Stage 1 and Stage 2 calibrations on the TSI engines. You run out of turbo long before you run out of fueling on the TSI engines, even without any changes to the fuel delivery strategy.

Good stuff freeride. I had to read it over a couple times.

Refer to the top of the thread. I purchased the vehicle from a broker, so this is all new to me. I have no clue where it was done, but it sure does purr.

Ok folks can I ask the same question which may have been answered already in this thread? I just bought an 09 GTI and the owner had it chipped at Curry's in Northern Virginia, but he's not very knowledgeable about the car. He doesn't know what he bought or have any records, he seems to think he paid some extra money to allow Curry's to change the settings of his car. I knew you could change between stock and chipped via cruise control on some APR chips, he said no, only Curry's can do it. So this leads me to believe that he bought some sort of upgrade option? Like free software updates, or maybe a Stage 2 upgrade? I don't know. I've been reading through the APR website trying to figure out exactly what he bought.

After reading this thread, it sounds like APR may want $150 to transfer the support to me, or the dealer may want $50, or maybe they won't transfer anything to me at all (read in another thread)?

Does EMCS come with ALL APR chips?

If I try the EMCS instructions with the cruise control and it turns out I DON'T have any programs, what happens?

If I don't have the security lockout, how do I get it?

I have a VAG-COM I bought when I had my Passat, does this help me in any way? Can I see any APR options with VAG-COM?

TIA

Did you try switching the program by holding the set on the cruise? My understanding is that if it's locked out it's not going to do anything, and you would have to have the code to then unlock it. So if it's unlocked your good to go. Looking at my print out from the APR dealer I don't see the lock code as an option, just the throttle body/clear faults, so probably didn't even have the lock code installed. I was worried about doing something stupid and making the car not start, but I think your pretty safe holding the set to see if it flashes for the program. I just let it flash through all 4 programs and then let it go after it was done.

Why doesn't the guy remember what he must have spent a bunch of money on :screwy:?
