So like i said in the title,
I have a 2001 VW GTI and the code on the wirelss Fob Key is HLO 1J0 959 753 F, no idea what it came from and I got it free for my car and currently all i have is the standard key where you have to put it in the door and turn it to unlock and lock.
This new FoB wireless key does not match my car's locks and the lock and unlock buttons do not work for my car either, So here's my questions:
1.) Can i reprogram it for my car for free by using the method "Roll down driver's side window, Put original key in Ignition and this Wireless fob key in driver's side door lock.... etc" IF i got the key on the wirelss FOB key to be cut the same pattern as my lock?

2.) or will i have to do something else to get it to work?
Thanks, Need lots of advice!

Oh alright.
And i have a normal blade / key for my car now which doesnt have the unlock/lock pad on it, just the little key with the light.

And i havent done anything with immobilizers or such.

And i'm about to post a picture up of my setup in 1 second to show better.

Your going to need the following.

Assuming your FOB is compatable with your car you can program it by yourself with no tools.

1- your SKC 4 digit PIN to program your immo chip.
2- blade for the remote key (the new one)
3- VAG COM to adapt the new immo to the car.

You will need to find someone with a vag tacho or a vag commander to get the SKC. It has one and its immo2. So you should be able to use the immo pill thats in the new fob. As long as that come from a immo2 car. Same goes for the remote working.
eg. I have a 2002 immo3.
My friend had a old 2001 immo2 fob.

None of the components would work with my car.
Immo was older generation. and the remote for the doors was a different gen. So only the outer plastic case would be of any use to me.

That will get your SKC and then a vag com to adapt the immo in the car.
Lots of VW people have them. Ask around your area and find someone that can help you out.
Are you 100% hat the new FOB is from your generation? what car did it come from?

yes. But you are in a crossover year.

I posted the link but ill be more specific.

"New style key remote replacement for 1999.5 – early 01 models
For those who are using the old style key and wish to switch using the new style ones, please note that there are two different versions of the new style keys out there with different part #s. Both versions of the new style keys look exactly identical, but only one of them works with cars that originally came with the old style keys. For reference, the following are the part #s of all switchblade remotes for the mk4s:

Old style:
1J0 959 753 F -- (for immobilizer 2)

New style:
1J0 959 753 T -- (for immobilizer 2)
1J0 959 753 AM -- (for immobilizer 3)"
