be able to go into neutral without engaging the clutch? I think I sound stupid but I've had it for a year (first MT car) and I only noticed it today when i tugged on the shifter...

i can only shift into neutral, and not into any other gears...thought it was weird.

Perfectly normal, if you're not actively on the throttle, you can pop the knob right out of gear. If you do it right, you can even rev-match and shift without the clutch (really easy way to wear down your tranny tho)

i remember back in highschool i'd show people shifting without using the clutch. Everyone would try it after and grind gears all day long.

Yeah, that's exactly what he meant but didn't know the difference having only driven MT one year now.

OP, it's perfectly normal to be able to push the shifter out of gear and into neutral, both with the engine running or off, but it's nothing to do intentionally.
