Re: is it possible to convert a2's to 5x112 using late model passat components? (astrodub)

Do you have late model passat components? I'm really not sure if this would work so you'll have to keep asking around. But my question is... Are the wheels worth the trouble and money spent swapping over?

I got a set of 16x8 bbs rs's in very good shape for a very decent price... No I don't have the components. Or I could redrill rims to 5x100 and convert to 5x100... I just don't know which is more feasible or if the b5 is possible.

Redrilling the rims is stupid, no offence. They were not meant to be 5x100 and you could ruin them by doing that. I don't think that a B5 setup would fit into the A2 and if it could it would take probably a lot of time and money. Right now all I have to say is sell the rims for a profit and buy some that fit your car. http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

Definitely not! I love changing my look to something that hasn't been done before! right now I'm trying to find out if I can get the A3 Heater controls into my A2.
What I am is a guy that tries to find as much information about something as possible, because I hate wasting a lot of money on something that isn't worth it. Also safety is a big must in my car.
What I'm saying is, redrilling the rims isn't all that safe once your on the road and is it worth it to change to the B5 setup if it's going to cost you an arm and a leg?

A B5 Passat suspension setup is completely different from an A2.
Not even close to A4 suspension.
B5's have multilink suspension.
Just look at a Passat and see what's involved.

I think going 5 lug to 5 lug is probably easier... they just drill in between each hole.
quote:

I'm sure a wheel shop could fill the holes and re-drill to 4x100.

If you go to 5x100, DON'T DRILL YOUR RIMS. There are adapters available for the 5x100 -> 5x112, just post on the MkIV forum and they'll help.. hopefully. If they don't help you give me a PM and I'll try and find them...

you can get 5X100 to 5X112 adapters. Contact jason @ Momentum Parts. tell him I sent you.
Filling and drilling can be done as well, and safely.
I had my old Breytons(BMW 5X120) redrilled to 5X112 for my passat
