Leather in a GTI? Never....love the way my seats look and feel in my 83 and my 11 with no leather.
Agreed. Maybe I'm just trying to make amends to the cows that sacrificed their lives to make my 997S with Extended Leather option possible (the fuse box cover is leather wrapped…lol). The interlagos interior give the GTI a bit of character…and the leather just seems out of place, and ultimately, it's not truly high-end leather anyway.

I would have got the cloth if VWOA gave it to us on the top sport seats. My autobahn seats are great...coming from the koenigs in my R I needed the bigger bolsters.

I wish I could have gotten Interlagos in my TDI. :banghead: Anyone want to trade for Titan Black Cloth?

I just showed my wife the red-piped leather aftermarket seats from another thread -- she likes that avenue. Reasonable price for the covers and installation, but obviously giving up some bolstering, etc. from the Autobahn seats.

Buy the loaded one and sell the RNS 510, or swap for a Rcd510, get back 800 to 1200 depending on the dealZZZ...

my 2 pesos

interlagos is the best, but xenons are the bestest ;)
:thumbup::thumbup:..

Driving passed ALL Mazdas and Subarus that have xenons:thumbdown::thumbdown:..

Lots of negativity directed toward the 2011+ packages, but I am completely satisfied. Everything with my trim was already required and non-negotiable for me except NAV. Having it now, I am glad I do and I am using it more than I thought I would for some work related assignments. The RNS-315 is great, fast and accurate. The lower trims suffer from an unacceptable level of screen pixelation due to size in my opinion. The RNS-315 has a higher resolution and has an awesome layout matching the colors and shapes perfectly, not to mention the whole integrated phone book/voicemail touch screen menu ect. Quite satisfied here...$599 is much better that the 1.7K for the 2010 and does exactly what I need and nothing I don't.

As far as the cloth, love it! Feels good too. Much too hot here for leather, I hate back sweat and sliding. It is not for me.

My only complaint is few people want well equipped/fully optioned 4 door GTI's with a 6MAN. They are very rare and mine was one of two out of 800 GTI's in the neighboring state at the time in this color. I have not seen another MKVI 4 door optioned up yet on the road at all.

I just picked up a 2011 & am very happy with the purchase. I debated awhile between the sunroff/nav or the autobahn package. I knew I def wanted xenons, but was unsure about the leather. I figure if my interlagos ever get really get beat up a few years down the road I can get a nice katzkin kit. I also plan to swap out to the older 510 head unit to wire in a cc camera, but I've had no complaints with the 315 at all. I would love to have the kessy setup, but I can deal without it for the $ saved. My wife's cc has the dyn, which I feel has a better low end sound than mine, but I hope a aftermarket amp/stealthbox will remedy that:thumbup:

I had plaid with xenons (2010), but I pulled them out and put in a black Katzkin kit with red stitching. The Katzkin is pretty nice, especially for the money. I put my kit in myself (which is a lot of work), but I had a shop quote me $1,200 installed. This is an option if you don't want the full Autobahn kit.

I'm still in the market for a 2011 GTI and was focused on the Autobahn package, not per se for the leather, but the dynaudio system! I had a 2008 GTI autobahn (with the "premium" stereo) and it was a POS. I just really wanted a nice stock OEM stereo and you can only get it with the autobahn package. Unless someone on here can tell me the regular setup on the MK6 is great?

I find the Premium VIII paired to the RNS-315 to be satisfactory especially with very high quality recorded music, itunes tracks ect. Unfortunately there is not one answer on this because music sound quality is such a subjective thing. Some have added like a small infinity basslink or similar and really improved the overall performance of the system. I am satisfied as it is for now.

premium VIII is the RCD-510 radio. Dynaudio is just premium sound.

Ha! That guy just got owned on his own blog. Comments FTW. :D

Personally, i would forgo the Autobahn package. I love the plaid and I'd rather take the dynaudio money and put it towards a proper audio setup. And kessy is lame.

The plaid may have worked in the 80's but it looks so lame now. Show me one other car sold in the US that has plaid seats. I know it was meant to be a retro thing to keep the GTI heritage alive but I am glad they wisely allowed another choice. The leather is perfect in a car of this quality. I had to have the sunroof, HID's and keyless ignition. The nav screen is a little small but it has come in handy a few times. I could have lived without it.

When I was trying to decide on the purchase, I showed the brochure to a lot of people. They almost universally disliked the plaid seats. A few said they were okay but no one said they LOVED them.

Each to their own. I like the leather but wish they had followed through with the red stitching detail on the seats to match the steering wheel.

Maybe some slight confusion here: The top two trims do not have a RCD-510 as it is not the head unit equipped with these trim levels. What is the name of the sound system paired to it? It certainly is not Dynaudio as in the Autobahn trim level.
