Wondering if there is a way to just strip the paint that was painted over the painted rubstrips on my GLI safely. I see some parts chipping away and noticed the paint is still shiny and smooth underneath. The previous owner didnt bother to sand it first.

When my kids spray painted my car a few weeks back  I was able to use a good polishing compound to get it off... I've also heard very good things about using easy off oven cleaner.
I'd kill my kids, that's why I'm single

hmmm i think i can try the razor but itll probably take FOREVER haha. Regarding the compound do you think it would work on fully dried paint? But all in all i guess its worth a shot. Its painted satin black now and it looks pretty damn good with the black rims on a PG GLI but i may want to change the look back to its classy look one day.

if i had kids and they did that id kill them too lol

If whatever it's painted on wasn't prepped, it should come off in sheets.

it was 2 days before I noticed it (I don't drive the car that often), and it was automotive grade paint (for color matching the engine covers)... they used half a can and sprayed the drivers rear quarter and the entire rear gate and bumper. My wife says when my eyes turned red she knew to get the kids into the house and away from daddy (they are 4 and 5). For the following 6 hours I was cutting, buffing, washing and waxing while she was tormenting the kids.

PS- this all happened during our housewarming party. the babysitter we hired wasn't paying attention and the kids sneaked into the garage for some mischief. Ah the joys of parenting...
