Permatex Body Shop Heavy Duty Headliner & Carpet Adhesive works way better than the 3M glue. ive done alot of interior wrapping and its holds alot better. stretchy fabric is easier to work with in the curves and on corners but you can use pretty much any fabric. just have patience

Does anybody on here have any experience making a headliner from scratch? I do not have one and have yet to come across one junkyarding etc. Was thinking some well-cut cardboard with some thing foam and fabric would work out?

where did you get that? my headliner is starting to sag and I don't want to have to redo it at the end of the summer

anyone ever try a foam/neoprene "wetsuit" material? That's what I'd like to do. Also my current headliner is not currently a fabric, just like plastic (85 Golf) not sure if there is any special consideration when working with that type of headliner (separate the plastic, or glue over it)

remove everything from your headliner board. thats the least fun part of all this is getting your headliner board clean and prepped. peel off the factory fabric, hope most of the orange factory foam comes off with it, then get to scrubbing with a piece of scotchbrite or steel wool. the glue wont set well, or at all, if you leave the backing board dirty.

that sounds really heavy and hard to keep from retracting when you stretch it around corners.
and it aitn cheap.... is why I am asking....

have been thinking about doing the whole interior in black/white/grey herringbone and black seude, kind of like my favorite jacket, whith the funny little elbow patches.
