Hi, im looking at Jetta's and I want a 2.0 for the gas mileage, but I've heard you can't get alot of power out of them, but all im going to want is a short ram intake and an exhaust system, maybe a chip. What sort of gain can I expect from a cat back, a high flow cat, possibly a header and the short ram intake before a chip? How will it affect HP/Tq and MPG?

Not as much as a stock 1.8t I'll say.

I was bolted to stg 2 in my 1.8t, with no tune, and I made was getting 45mpg granny driving, 38mpg hwy, 28-32 mpg @ 70mph, and 20-27mpg gassing it. 28-32 city driving. Stock was a little less than that.

Save yourself the headache and get a 1.8t. Its easier to mod in the future if you change your mind and if you keep them maintained they are reliable. I've been getting great gas milage since day one.

However answering the power gain question on a 2.o, I dont know.

MPG is in how heavy your foot is.

If you want good mileage and power, get an ALH TDI (1999.5-03), do kinetics .216 nozzles, straight pipe exhaust and a unitronic tune and you will be so happy. My car destroys stock VR mk4's and I still get 1000km to the tank on the highway.
