So I just bought a new (to me) passat. I used to have a jetta and was looking for something less modified, more comfortable, bigger (so i can trek my housemates around), something with a sunroof, but still a manual, and a little bit more reliable (Blah blah, i know vw isnt that reliable, but you should have seen my jetta). This is what I got. Its a 2001.5 Passat GLX and it has 131 000kms.

I got to drive it an hour and a half home, and sheesh, what an amazing driving...I've always loved these cars and now I'm glad I own one.

Tell me your good or bad stories with your B5.5 :D!

Thanks! It's got its minor scuffs and scratches of a 10 year old car, but nothing compared to my jetta's rust-fest on the fenders, doors, rocker panels, and trunk. I honestly think I've fallen in love with an old person's car (because of the colour) and I'm 20 years old.
I've always liked that color and the tan leather combo..(im 27 btw, mint green and various shades of light green are my favs) ;)

that's my favourite B5.5 colour combo, nice buy

Wow that car looks to be in good shape nice find! I would consider doing some simple oem+ type mods to the car in order to make it a little more aggressive but retain much of the comfort you're looking for. Good luck with it!

I wanna keep most of the comfort, but would like to go lower....suggestions? Before I didn't care for comfort, so I just slapped some coils in my Jetta, but now that I'm in this thing, I'm in love.

That's not a GLX, I don't think.
Steelies and no sunroof.

I like that color, my passat was that color.

V6s leak oil like sieves, the cats die, but otherwise the drivetrain is bulletproof if you stay up on maintenance (BTW, TB service is 75k mi, no more)
The coolant temp sensor will slowly fail. If your car doesn't start and floods, this is why.

Going low in those is recipe for cv boots and LCA/TREs being replaced.

It has a sunroof :) and I believe in its previous life it had alloys. I'd be damn surprised if it wasn't a glx with automatic climate control and wood grain interior, but I've been wrong before.

Quick question, are these known for ignition coil problems? cause I'm misfiring on cylinders 4,5,6 on idle and I just did all my spark plugs and wires. That's the next thing i can think of.

Okay, somebody needs to help me find out if I have a glx, this is getting exciting that I might have the only one with this set of specs :)

What is the VIN number? You can PM or post here, just leave the last 6 digits (serial number) out, the rest identifies the model, engine, trim etc.
