Hey all. I just bought a 72 cuda this last weekend.

Here is a rundown about it.
340 bored out .40 over
- how big does that make it?

4spd manual but origionally auto

6bbl carb originally 4

NO rust :)

New red factory color paint inside and out

Brand new covered interior in grey hd cloth

All new glass & rubbers and trim throughout.

Bad:
Brand new motor hasn't been tuned and has a slight miss or backfire and carb hiss
Grill was stolen :(
Tiny stock rims ew
Air shocks in the rear but need new lines

Other than that it's a NICE. About as nice as you can get and not feel bad about driving it!

Payed $15,000

346 (it won't be able to bore again, 340s have thin walls and will need to be sleeved next time

I haven't even seen any decent ones in tha price range. I'd like to know why you think I got raped. Seems early 70's mopars are just pricy compared to the abundant supply of fm and ford muscle

Looks solid. Original motor? Factory original 'Cuda parts fetch high prices, i.e. complete six pack carb setups.

I would not have given $7500 for that car. It is a victim of the 1990's monochromatic cluster****. For heavens sake the brake lines are painted red. Non original, "custom" paint, poor running..... Oh yeah...

Now, if that was a nice AAR clone, sure $15K would be fine. IF this car is really rust free, then it might be a nice platform for a AAR clone.

Why do I think this car as one of those awful tweed interiors too.

Looks nice, what are your plans for it?

If you can get a car this badass for $7,500, I'm buying a 'Cuda tomorrow

You could find a much more original 'cuda for $7500 as a starting point for decent project rather than someone else's folly. Air shocks? Monochromatic paint? Someone got ahold of a time machine set to the CarCraft editors office circa 1991. To each his own, but painted brake lines and hood springs along with one painted and one unpainted bumper are harbingers of a hack job.

I'm sure it will be fun to drive once it is sorted though. At least while you are driving it you can't see all that stuff.

'cudas aren't as cheap as they once were. if it drives nicely it could be a good deal.
I am fully aware of the premium mopars fetch.

The car is incomplete, non numbers matching, a bit of a hodge podge shadetree "custom, "fresh paint (with tons of terrible overspray) that looks rushed, engine doesn't run well (incredibly simple to tune and get running tip top), etc etc etc.

I sincerely hope you had somebody look at it with you that is familiar with vintage iron. And for your sake, I hope he went over the body with a magnet in all of the usual spots. The fresh paint to me screams fresh bodywork. I wasn't trying to be rude, but that is alot of money for something that questionable and needs work. Hopefully, my untrusting heart is wrong and I hope you have a good car and will give it a good home.

Agreed, it is easy to get starry eyed with something like this but this car makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up.

That was my first thought. I'd highly doubt that there isn't a ton of mud in that car. The slap dash paint job would lead me to believe that there are some rusted areas that got the "bondo and go" repair route. For goodness sake, they painted the brake booster!

IMHO triple two's is a bit much for a street run 340. Swap back to a 4-bbl with vacuum secondaries and you will be much happier. If you are determined to run the triple carb setup, you need to really learn how to tune them together or you will hate the car forever.

Love the flex fan with no shroud setup. Worked fine on old 6-cyl. Mustangs but not so much on a warmed over small block.

Hell, just take off the outboard linkages and plug the lines.

Wow lots of assumptions about this car based on a few small pics. 15k is a good price for a modified Cuda, assuming it is actually rust free. A solid AAR replica would be worth 25k +, not 15k as someone suggested. Mopar stuff from this era fetch really good money.

OP post more pics! And get some decent rims! :p
