I don't know why #'s are so important in the muscle car world. As long as it's original-ish that's good e ough for me.
It's just one-ups-manship for collectors sake. The more original, the more valuable.

"Oh, you got a 72 Cuda? Me too, but mine has an ORIGINAL engine from a 71!"

"OH YEAH! Mine has the original, FACTORY, #'s matching engine!"

"Oh yeah!? Mine only has 110,000 original miles!"

*slap-fight*

It says alot about authenticity as well as the pride previous owners took in the car. If any old part will do, who knows where else they cut corners. Like I said, pretty sure you've been taken fir a ride.

If it's too good to be true....

With OP's lack of general knowledge of these cars I'm surprised he didn't get any 2nd opinions.

IMO, even "ALL ORIGINAL" Cuda is worth no more than 15k, but I'm not a nut for these cars and they don't do much for me.

And fact that stupid auctions inflated the crap out of these cars is just stupid to me.

BUT, if people are willing to pay...more power to them. To me it's still a 40 year old car that's MAYBE worth few grand IF that (in my eyes).

:)

We can use that arguemtn for any car, however...

"That Ferrari Daytona doesn't really do it for me, so I should be able to get it for a couple thousand bucks. After all, it's just a 40 year old car that isn't as good at being a car as a new Fiesta."

Me either, practically everything I own is modified in some sense. my car, mtn bike, hell I even swapped out the bearings on a razor scooter I used to ride around on campus.

Since there are seemingly knowledgable Chrysler fans here, tell me this; What would be the value of my Prom car in pristine condition?

It was a brand new 1970 Challenger 440RT/Six Pack convertible in Plum Crazy with a white interior and top.

Today's value?

Easily 6 figures assuming near perfect numbers matching condition. And actually i have seen that combo, plum crazy white interior convertibles, with a Hemi, go for over 1 mil.

Are we basing this on an all original car? numbers matching, etc...?

Yes, just the way I would have kept it, in my dreams. I did have the baddest car at the Prom. I left my date to go drag racing on Telegraph. Got the cold shoulder when I got back. She married me anyway.
anywhere from $50,000 to $70k
