I hated Killeen as a soldier. As a civilian it grew on me. I refuse to shop at Walmart, but this area is actually very convenient and it is easy to get what you need away from the giant blue corporate devil. Killeen makes it easy to transition from soldier to civ.

Funny talking about wheels... Came here to mention I saw Autoblog's writeup on the new MKVI GLI and good god does it look... bland.
I don't know where VW decided to go with its design style after the MKIV but its sad how much like the regular Jetta even the GLI this go around looks. Granted the front grille looks a bit different but it just doesn't have the distinct visual queues the 04.5 GLI had. Even what was supposed to be the bigger 18" wheels in the picture don't look anything special. I'm a huge fan of the RCs my GLI came with and it would have been nice to give this new GLI class something a bit more unique wheel wise stock.
I seriously wish i could afford to insure two cars because damn if I wouldn't keep my GLI as a DD and go get a MKIV .:R32 to have fun with.

I pay 600 for the R and ~240 for my truck both w full coverage for 6mo. If I took the R off my truck goes up ~2-300. It's really not that much more expensive for 2 cars

Multiple car discount!! I think we are in the same boat - .:R, 11 Camaro, 00 Dodge 1500 and 09 GSXR. Crazy that the .:R insurance is still more than the new Camaro parked next to it...:laugh:

Drove it like like a fire truck up and down dirt roads on the outskirt of a wild fire.... Ft. Hood, TX is still on fire and I have to got through it to get home, so with all the road blocks and detours my .:R came out like this. It was pretty fun for I had the whole road to myself and felt like I was in a rally race, at one time I hit over 100mph on the dirt roads... I love my car!! Snapped these while being on the wrong road and a little too close for the cops (Yea I got pulled over for being on the wrong road):laugh: Then they wouldn't believe me on which road I took to get there. These cops are stupid, for they didn't have a single clue on what road I was talking about and it's right off the main road!! :facepalm::facepalm: It's not my fault they didn't have the road blocked!!
When I get home, first thing I'm doing is giving her a bath!!

:laugh::thumbup:I can't help myself when the opportunity arises. Sucks you have to drive through that mess, but good job making the best of it.

There is no happy voice to my signature. I hate VWs and hate the community. I've been around too long and watched it go from a close community into a back stabbing, hating, clicky group. If I could and it made sense I'd get out of my R, but it doesn't so it will be with me til she gets hit by another car and takes the long tow truck ride to be butchered for AWD parts.

I like to arguing so much, I will argue how much I hate to argue.
If you said I was "always right", I would argue that I am usually wrong, until you agreed I was right about being wrong.

If you told me VW is superior to Hyundai in every way, I would agree, but probably still argue your statement was biased. :bs:
That being said, we are getting a decent group of people together and I think we handle each others quirks very well. No fist fights or death threats this summer. All in all I would say it has been positive.
Yeah... I pay nearly $800 for 6 months for my insurance on the GLI (i shopped around... USAA had the lowest for me at the time). Getting a license at 18 (don't ask...), not having continual insurance, and being male all contribute to the fact I get screwed over. Yay for bias against young male drivers! Worse is that I never had any tickets or anything and it was STILL that high (gotten two tickets since but thank god for drivers training courses online to get them removed). :banghead:
