First off this is some DIY, I had no problems with the install itself following this. Although the install itself is pretty simple to do.
-First off I can't get the venting to work.
-Roll down seems to work just fine. BUT sometimes only the back 2 windows go -down.
-And sometimes when I roll windows up and alarm on, the alarm sounds like its about to go off but doesnt. And then sometimes the same sound happens and the alarm does go off.
I'm just curious if all the other alientech buyers have had these problems. I'm sure I connected everything right but i'll check again tomorrow.

Re: Issues with Alientech window controller (samc)

Best thing to do is ensure that the splice connectors are FIRMLY and TIGHTLY clamped down - when I first installed my Alientech i did not do that properly and had to return to my friend's house to check it out again - on the drive over my locks kept locking / unlocking every 5 seconds ...
there are also the configurable options one should cycle through to set everything.

Re: Issues with Alientech window controller (samc)

Ya know I have one that was in the car when I bought it. I have no clue how to work this thing... and sometimes when I go to unlock all doors I hit the pad twice and all of a sudden there come down all the windows.
Is there a site with the commands or something?
Thanks.

Re: Issues with Alientech window controller (samc)

sounds like maybe you didn't make the right connections...as far as the vent setting goes, did you program the vents in? My alientech came w/o the vent programmed by default - if you read the instructions that came with the kit, they tell you how to do this - if you already did this and still no dice, I dont know what to tell ya except check your connections and make sure all the wires from the chip are connected to the right wires in the door - one more thing, make sure you didn't confuse the wires, for example, getting the yellow w/ blue stripe confused the blue w/ yellow stripe, etc

Re: Issues with Alientech window controller (Sam1.8T)

I have a problem with my alientech and was wondering if someone could help. Everything works fine EXCEPT I can get the roll up feature to work once, then it won't work again unless I switch configurations, then it will work once, and so on. I can repeat this process without fail, so I know it is not loose wiring. Thanks.

oh yeah that orange-ornage-yellow-gold/silver resistor, did you guys cut it off completely or just clip one part and move it aside? Ok thats just crazy talk.

You have to wait 30 seconds before you try again, just thought I'd throw that in just in case. Since I installed mine, about 4 months ago, haven't had any problems.

Re: Issues with Alientech window controller (Tornado Red Russ)

everything works fine on mine except when i arm the alarm to close the s/r & windows. windows go completely up then s/r only closes 1-2 inches, but if windows are up & s/r is open it completely closes. any thoughts?

Re: Issues with Alientech window controller (vwboy308)

Do you have extremely slow windows when using the key to roll windows up? If so, there's probably not enough time to close sunroof - it only closes after all windows are fully up (when using the key).. From all down, how long does it take for all windows to close? (time it) count the seconds on the alarm led - one blink per second, roughly.

Re: Issues with Alientech window controller (scottm)

actually my alientechs work just fine. But I hate that timeout feature. Gotta email alientech one day and figure out how to do disable it.

Configuration operations:
All configuration operations are started by inserting the vehicle key in the driver's door, turning the key to the lock position (note: any open windows may begin to roll up), and closing the door while holding the key in the lock position. Requiring the use of they key assures that programming mode cannot be accidentally entered by playing with the remote. One of three things will then happen, depending upon the time between closing the door and releasing the key:
0-3 seconds: Releasing the key 0-3 seconds after closing the door will swap configurations. Once the configurations have been swapped, the AlienWindow controller will signal the number of the newly activated configuration by locking the door once for configuration 1, or twice for configuration 2. It will then unlock the door. If your car is set to beep on lock, you will hear one or two beeps to indicate the active configuration.
3-10 seconds: Releasing the key 3-10 seconds after closing the door will cause the AlienWindow controller to enter option setting mode. About 4 seconds after releasing the key, the controller will unlock the car. This is the controller asking for the first option (No sunroof) to be set. To set the option, press either the lock or unlock button on the remote. To leave the option at it's default, do nothing. After about 3 seconds, the controller will then move on and do an unlock to ask for the next option. This cycle will occur seven times, once for each option. When all seven options have been completed, the controller will lock the car, to signal completion of the option programming.
Pressing a button sets the option, doing nothing accepts the default. The controller asks for options in the following order. Defaults are shown in parenthesis ().
{press} {no press (default)}
1)No sunroof (sunroof present)
2)Disable rollups (Rollups allowed)
3)Disable rolldowns (Rolldowns allowed) Note: disable both to disable controller.
4)Swap commands (Normal commands)
5)Add .5" to vent (.75" vent opening)
6)Add 1.25" to vent (.75" vent opening) Note: both can be set to add 1.75"
7)Disable timeout (30 second roliup timeout active)
10+ seconds: Releasing the key more than 10 seconds after closing the door will cause the AlienWindow controller to reset both configurations to defaults, and make configuration 1 active. Successful completion is signaled by the controller locking the car twice.
Important Safety notice, read before beginning installation.
The unit, as shipped and when properly installed, meets US Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (49CFR571.118). When the controller is configured to allow rollups, it does NOT meet FMVSS, which do not permit the type of remote rollups which the controller provides. The vehicle manufacturer's "anti-pinch" protection feature is NOT active during use of the controller. The controller is provided with user configurable options which may allow rollups to occur. These options are provided for off-road or show car use only. It is the user's responsibility to install, configure and use the device in a manner which provides for safe operation.
In order to allow ANY rollups, including from the vent position, a resistor must be physically removed from the controller. This resistor is located right next to the cable connector, and is coded with stripes colored ORANGE-ORANGE-YELLOW-GOLD. To enable full operation of the controller, including rollups, remove this resistor by cutting or bending it back and forth.
