Most here wouldn't know a great real world FWD handler if it jumped out from behind a tree and smacked them in the face
Still barking up the wrong tree, I see.

Re: Focus: It will draw a different demographic than the GTI. Flagrant and ADHD aesthetics of the Focus ST vs. tasteful and taut styling of the GTI. I wouldn't be caught dead owning a current-gen Focus purely from its hideously over-the-top styling-per-square-inch mantra.

It very well may be a good driving car, but it certainly lacks the "total package" that the GTI has going for it.

There will end up being be just as many slammed and stretched and poked and whored Foci as there currently are GTI.

What VW would need to combat Foci with RevoKnuckle is to take a page out of Audi's playbook and adopt the front geometry of the TT, with it's higher roll center, and redo the sheetmetal to accept 245 or 255 section tires.
First part of that, is the crowd you're talking to (sadly).

Second part of that: 245's fit, and don't rub on the sheetmetal, they do however, rub on the inside fender liner where the brake ducting is (so the inside of the fender that's blocking the front bumper) but that's only under a pretty heavy load, which 99% of all vw owners will never experience, unless there's a big dip in the road. The other 1% actually enjoy cars for their handling characteristics and torque curves, and are willing to put up with not so great interior design or body styling, because when you're in the car and driving, none of that matters.

But this is vortex, where you get a $4000 turbo and suspension upgrade, and you put 215 all seasons stretched onto 10 inch wide 35lb wheels, and drive as slow as possible to avoid touching the ground. Not many people on this forum really care about actual performance, but rather, how they look on the internet and at shows. And it's pretty easy to spot them, because they choose tires by how well they stretch, instead of how well they grip.
