its probably a 95

and you're asking how rare it is...real rare. specific numbers? join the club in wanting that type of information about your color. the jury will forever be out on surf green 96s like mine as well as many other combinations.

what's this "let you buy it" s**t? is it not your money?

I'm paying for it but my parent's are over protective douchebags that don't allow me to have any freedom  But you know what I don't care anymore because my dad's been tellling me since I was little when I'm 18 ill be able to make my own decisions and I did turn 18 recently soooo i'll probably end up buying it if it checks out. Im in the midst of searching for storage locations right now, and I may be able to get a garage right near my campus where my friend is renting. That would be ideal for me because I'd be able to go work on it after school for a bit if I wanted too and it's only about 20km (12.5miles) from my house. If all else goes wrong my parents are going on vacation from oct 28th to nov 6th.

Yeah I don't need to know exact number but just general estimates on the value of the car and how many were made would be nice.

Saying this without knowing your personal/family life...your parents arent douchebags, theyre just looking out for you. Mine did the same thing when i bought my car, if you really want it, be civil, do your research, and make it seem like you give a damn about their side of the story. it works, trust me ;)

My parent's are Polish immigrant's not much more to say  All immigrant parent's are pretty much like that, strict and way to over protective. My dad keeps telling me it's going to be a money pit and im like well no **** it's and 18 year old car it's not going to be perfect... My friend bought a 95 golf diesel recently too from sketchbag and the injection pump went and it needs to be rebuilt and he keeps telling me about that so i tell him good thing vr6's don't have injection pumps lol

Polish people are the most negative and pessimistic ever. I know this because i married one. Dusty Mauve is an extremely rare color. If the floorboards and strut towers aren't in bad shape the car is a good deal under $1500 and a no brainer for under $1000. Just tell your parents i said everything will be bardzo dobrze.

Yeah I know what you mean, they always tell me if I lived in Poland they would let me. I tell them what difference does it make where I live?! Either way they're going to Poland the 28th of October so if I can't pick it up now I'll get it then and rent a garage and they'll never know

Sorry for no updates, went today to check the car out and I can say I was a little disappointed when I saw it. Was expecting to see something in a lot better condition.

Some things I noticed right off the bat:

The good:
- all original gti stuff is there
- has a mfa
- party style seats
- heated seats
- cruise
- fogs
- ac
- sunroof
- suspension does look refreshed like he said
- textured rubs?
- pin stripe (definately intresting)

The bad:
- Tires are all cracked up in the front ones completely flat
- Brakes and rotors are rusted to hell
- ebrake boot is missing
- sideskirts are missing
- windshield is cracked
- sunroof is jacked up
- the cowl at the bottom of the windshield is all messed
- doors are rusty
- fenders are rusty
- the "new" hatch is rusty
- the corner under the taillight's is rusty
- some rust under the rear passenger window
- rockers are pretty rusty
- looks like the floors have some minor rust
- some rust where the rear quarter panel and bumper meet
- radiator support and rad look pretty rusty
- wasp nest's everywhere they can get in
- rust at the top of windshield (this worries me)
- door mouldings are missing

Anyway's enough text onto the pics:

So what do the mk3 forums think, I personally think it does have it's fair share of rust, but most is on panels that are replaceable. I don't think I'd give him the $800 he's asking for I'd probably give him $300 so it doesn't go to the junkyard. I can tell you my dad wasn't pleased at all to see this LOL. But he did like the 220s that was there

Less rust then the gti and it's like 40 years older

Not worth it...kinda seemed to good to be true:(

Did you ask if he'd part it out? I'd die for those seats. :snowcool:
 That thing is crap!!! You should ask if he will either part it out or offer him $300, because that is the worst example of a MK3 I have ever seen!!!

Ya he said he's firm on the price and rather leave it to rot forever then lose money on it :screwy: I'm pretty sure if he leave's it any longer there might not be anything left. What make's you guy's think it's not worth to buy it the rust? That's what bother's me the most considering I've never welded before. I would probably take it for $300 though. Id part it out, then cut it up and take it to the scrap yard.

sorry you drove all those kilo-meters.
 My dad wanted to check what kind of fuel mileage he would get from his x5 he just bought recently so I guess it wasn't a complete waste

Also saw a pretty minty fresh mk3 green jetta slammed on some gold wheels with a deep polished lip, euro trunk and fender flair's I think? today in london going down wonderland s. If that's anyone on here car looks good

Ya I wouldn't touch that heap of iron oxide with a ten foot pole. Keep your eyes out for something cleaner
