I wouldnt say the swap is simple, its definitely some work, but I wouldnt say nightmare either, my car was an auto at one time, it depends on how you feel about your car weather its worth it to you or not.

this is like the "don't swap a VR into a Jetta, just buy one"
to me if you love you car.. you want to keep that car, not buy another one just to have a manual tranny, or a VR http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif
do what you want man http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

It is alot easier if you have a donar. You need to swap everything out. Including the brake pedal. You need the pulleys, cables, pedal microswitches, and all kinds of stuff you don't think about until you're under the vehicle. Done a few swaps on rear wheel drive. Good insurance to replace throw out bearing and all (if VW has them) while it is all apart.
