Just got an 84 Scirocco as a project car and im STOKED to get started. I pick it up on Saturday. What should I do first?

The basics are always a good place to start. Fluids / tune-up parts etc. Start determining what systems need attention (steering / brakes / suspension etc) and develop a basic plan for the direction you want to take the car. Mod / upgrade (or not) as you replace worn items.

Perfect! The only serious problem it has is that if it idles too long after a lot of stop and go,the previous owner says it stalls out. Any idea what it might be?

Bone stock. Its a wolfsburg too. Fluids and seafoam tomorrow. Checking the brakes and engine bay. Also checking underneath the car. Ill upload some pictures once I get it.

Hahahaha im new to the scene man! Did you expect any less? I figured it out though by using the google machine. Which one should I pick up? The only one I can seem to find is 85-92 which considering mine is a mk2 I'm assuming I grab that one?

The Bently is the best printed repair manual for VW's period.

everyone beat me to the book think, but do follow daun's comments.

also just clean it really good, check for spare chnage...I found about $3 bucks in some seats that I bought as replacements and 2 love letters...:laugh:
