hey guys, have a 06 Jetta 2.5L JUST hit 50k miles...i noticed that regardless of weather and ambient temperature, i get a "crunch" noise from my front end going over larger bumps; i.e. railroad tracks, speed bumps, small animals(jk)...also have steering wheel vibration on the highway 60mph+ ....any ideas as to what this is? CV joints? or if my problems are even related? (i already tried re-balancing and realigning the front end)
thanks guys

cheers!

does is sound like it's a suspension noise? Like a clunking?
And under the front end there is a lot of plastic pieces. It's possible that something could just be loose.

And here's a list of CV joint symptoms: http://www.dnd-automotive.com/chassis/bad-cv.htm
The clunking in the front isn't plastic.I had a 90 GLI and it was the strut bearings.
I asked about it and VW only recently came out with them and they don't have in in stock.(Larsons)
I'm wanting to replace my suspension so I'll check then.

Could be the subframe noise that everyone complains about, there is a huge thread and a TSB for this issue if you search for it. Not sure it makes a crunch sound but might get you started in the right direction.

thanks for the responses guys, im pretty certain plastic pieces could not produce that noise...im leaning towards the sub frame noise aforementioned, ill also look into the bushings as well.
any other ideas? throw em out there! thanks again!
