Got my hands on a NOS Luggage Carrier as seen in "square 9" below.
Was curious as to how hard these are to find? Seems it would have been a dealership option?
Found it listed in the 1976 Accessories brochure, as well as the 1979 sales brochure.
Thank you for any information you may have :)

Mike; you are evil...

no really...I have one and I don't even plan to use it. Common as dirt...(what are they worth? I seem to be needing money for some reason...)

Really? I think you might have missed a few. Check again in the earlier posts......skip the middle ones.....then check the recent. That rack is as common as school buses on rural streets.
Oh, well look at that
Thank you SO much Michael!
I can see them all over, so common!

Sure thing boss
Interesting how it doesn't show on any of the 5 "roof rack" threads in this forum.
Common as rain... :screwy:
just funnin ya. no need to roll your eyes there sport. :D lighten up!

You deserve a vortex medal though for using the search [Daniel Tosh]and for that we thank you[/Daniel Tosh] capability this site has.

Because you did search, this leads me to believe in my heart you are smart enough to know that on a 31-37 year old car, an OEM/dealership add-on accessory like a luggage carrier is SUPER RARE!
Call me a purist, but drilling holes into my beloved Butch to strap things to the roof is not my forte. But as in any market, your rack is only as valuable as what a potentially salivating buyer will pay.

good luck! :)

:] Don't let the 2010 join date fool you!
I've been on here since ~2007 (Still nothing on some of you folks!)
I also could not drill holes into my Scirocco, but at the same time I'm not really after any $$.
(Though I'm sure some of the Golf owners would love an OEM roof rack)
I think I'll leave it sealed in the box, and let it age some more.
Got to love when the local VW dealership finds neat stuff in their basement!
