Hi vortex!

I have a question about my 2003 Golf GLS 2.0. I have had the thing for just about 10 years now, and I've always been slapped at the pump. I can't seem to get over 23-24 MPG combined as hard as I try.

I try to drive conservatively as much as possible, but the thing revs up to 3500 as soon as i stab at the accelerator.

Can anyone else corroborate my story, or am I just a bad "green driver?"

It really depends on your driving habits and the driving conditions.

Is it all stock? How recent has it been since you did a tune up? Is your car running 100% like new?

There are lots of variables, having a heavy foot is one of the biggest ones.

I keep it tuned pretty well. It's all stock, save for some aftermarket filters, and a water pump.

I guess my foot is what's holding it back, but it's tough to keep the RPM's down on the guy.

stop stabbing the throttle:cool:

I kid I kid,

02 sensor, maf, plugs wires, air filter, can go a looong way.

When mine was stock, it got 35 on the straight highway at 70mph/27 28mpg with the gf commuting. Now it's gonzo tuned, and I run 93 oct, otherwise stock, nearly 10MPG GAIN!!
stock exhaust, swiss cheeze air box, fresh tune up stuff,
37mpg mixed,

it's an AEG 2000 golf 2.0 5sp 4dr,

A tune will def get you more mileage if you are conservative with the gas pedal

More timing = more power with same amount of fuel :thumbup:
