I bought this Mattig Badgeless from RPI and put it in my car today to take to get painted. It was about 80 out and pretty humid, so it got pretty hot inside my car. By the time I got to my car at lunch time the damn thing melted. What the f ck am I supposed to do with this thing now??? Has this happened to anyone else? What am I supposed to do, melt it back to shape??

Re: My grill melted (Majik6)

umm
you're SOL man.
buy a new one.. that's about it...

Re: My grill melted (GriffinMoss)

Well, I suppose you could try to bend it back, and then use a ton of bondo to make it straight again, but I think you should probably just get a new one. Sorry man!

Re: My grill melted (Majik6)

Yo, that's BS man, I can't believe that happened?
I'm rockin the Kamei grill.... although it didn't melt
it didn't fit exactly right, it's still kinda wrong but
it's good enough..... if it had melted like that I'd be
super pissed!
Sorry to see that thing warp like that.

Re: My grill melted (Majik6)

thats nuthin, u shoulda seen my mkIV look after I left it in my back seat on a hot day. It looked like this ___/ but bending the wrong way. All u gotta do is leave it in the hot sun and just mold it and weight it and such

Re: My grill melted (Jon D)

I have that same grill.I had it on the top shelf in my closet for a couple months and it did kind of conform to a different shape.Once I had it painted and installed on my car it was fine.
I do believe by looking at the pic of your grill that it could be fabricated back to original shape w/ maybe a heatgun??and then immediatly store it in a cool place until you install it http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

Re: My grill melted (WHITE8V92GTI)

yeah.. that's what i was thinking was to put a heat gun to it.
then again, maybe a paint shop would be better off doing that than my clumbsy ass.

Don't say that to Majik, you remember the last pics of him "mounting" his rims... I'm still laughing. Seriously though, that is some fugazzi busted arse crapola right there. I would be pretty p'd off myself. If it is that soft how do you even paint the damn thing? Add enuff flex to be able to turn inside out? If it were installed I guess it uses the rigidity of the car to hold its shape but still that is truly ghetto craftsmanship right there. I feel for ya man, thats a real PITA. I would try to send it back too though and now I have doubts of even wanting one myself anymore. http://****************.com/smile/emthdown.gif
