I have a chance to buy a g37x coupe but am undecided. 10k less miles fully loaded and certified. Which car should hold a better resale??
Opinions!!
Opinion? The coupe is faster, noticeably, handles as well, is obviously a coupe, and as others have noted, will keep value longer. But that interior. *shudder*. I rented a G37 last year in Sonoma, my previous experience with Infiniti being the debut years of the FX35 and G35 Coupe and couldn't believe it, clearly not Infinit's priority from a quality or feel standpoint and it bugged the hell out of me that a car that costs at least $5,000 more new vs the .:R, and which wears Nissan's Luxury badge, would provide interior appointments well below Audi and below VW even.

Luckily, few people I find are as big on interior fit and finish, design, and quality, and that's hopefully going to be you in this scenario, enamored instead with the coupe form, 80 more HP, better fuel economy and brisker acceleration.

Not aure of the equipment on the g37, but i have owned three of them. I currently drive a g37s that is not all wheel drive and i love it. I have the matching car in a sedan as well and am equally satisfied with it. I am not sure how good their awd is but i know the R is a beast in the snow. I moved from florida to indianapolis and bought my R because both of my G's and my Dakota were rear wheel drive and i needed something to drive in the winter. The coupe is more powerful but is not as fun to drive as the R. The G was also the top rated car for resale for 2 years and is always on the top of the list. The G is not as temprmental as the R and i have literally never had to have anything on any of Infiniti's in for repairs other then a dead battery and the 2009 muffler recall.

With respect to other comments regarding the G being $5k more than the R and not having a nice interior; im not sure where you priced each car and what model you drove, but my coupe was north of 50k and the interior is very nice. I have owned two audis, a saab, an acura, etc and the Inifiniti interior is every bit as nice as the others. I will say that the regular models and even the lesser expensive Journey models do not have near as nice an interior as the cars with the premium packages and all of the other options (technology, safety, rear steering etc). I would find it hard to choose between them because they are very different and both very fun in their own way. I vote you get both.

Considering they were rentals I'm guessing it was Journey, looked exactly like this:

Everything just felt, meh. THe odd buttons on the instrument cowling, cheap metal look plastic abounding on the center console and doors, the feel of all those buttons on the HVAC and Nintendo Nav controls, pretty much everything I touched Kinda surprised me. I've not driven any G37's costing 50k due specifically to that experience but would hope higher spec enjoyed better quality materials, though the foibles on the design like the nav pad and cluster buttons I believe are on all them. To each his own, I was driving a first generation A5 recently and thought it felt miles ahead in terms of darn near everything I touched.

When did this turn into the Infinity forum?

R32 is more versatile. R32 looks better. R32 is Racekor. R32.

I would guess you find as many G37 responses in the real Infinity forums. Seriously dont ask the internet, youll just be upset in the long wrong. Drive both. Examine your needs. Decide for yourself.

Good luck.

Looking at the resale of the 2004 and 2008 .:R32s compared to the same G35/G37s, IMO the .:R32 will hold its value a bit better. The .:R32 is limited production and the G37x, although more rare than the G37, are a dime a dozen. The 2008s are priced very similar currently, but in a couple more years IMO the .:R32 will have a higher value.

Resale value .... Hard to compare used cars. G37 50k to 20k > lost 60% and the R32 30k to 20k > lost 33.3%
But how will it continue as the G37 already took the big hit.
And a 2004 R32 is a different story and should not be used to compare.

Obviously the guy wants to keep his R and is looking for arguments towards his decision or why else post here vs an Infinity forum?

Hence: Don't do it man!

I'd never give up my R for a Nissan/Infinity and I'd take the any R over any Nissan/Infinity (I'd drive a GT-R if someone gave me one but end up selling it and using the money to mod my Audi/VW's). My co-worker had a G35 and it stopped in the middle of the freeway and left her for dead (it got totaled)...since then, I've seen at least 5-6 other "G" cars broken down in the middle of the freeway and that is the only type of car I've noticed that seem to be stopped without being able to at least pull over to the side first. She got a VW now and it's not as fast but she has already noticed how much more solid the car is built and the overall quality difference.

And if I were to ever buy a BMW (probably never unless I pick up an E30 M3 someday), I'd never get an "x" model...they have one of the worst AWD systems around and kinda defeats the purpose of buying a BMW, imo.

I'd like to say E92 335i/xi > G37x hands down.

I find the G37x boring all around, so unless you can look at a 335i/xi just get the .:Racecar.
This x100.

I owned an 06 G35 6MT back in the day. It was a fun car. I feel like they did a better job with the first gen cars than the second and third gens.

When I was looking to replace the WRX I took out a new fully loaded G37s. It was a disappointment all around for the reasons already listed.

The sales guy spent more time slamming the BMW 3 series than he did trying to tell me about the G37. Decided to see what he was so afraid of. Needless to say, I went home that day with an 09 335i x-drive with the 6-speed manual.

I used to be such a Nissan / Infiniti fanboy. It saddens me to write this, really. I hate that they lost the plot somewhere in 2006. :(

Actually I do own an R ht is why the dilemma. I think I'm going to keep it and move on. It really does do all that I need it to, has plenty of room, good enough on gas, quiet and comfortable. It may not be sper fast but fat enough to be fun. I have my motorcycle for real fast any way.
I do have to say I am surprised at how many guys said buy the g.
