so, my friend and i are leisurely driving around the backroads of southport today, headed towards a small beach. we're approaching the roadside where you park for said beach, and four girls no older than 19 or so, drive by in the opposite direction in a green saab convertable and pelt my car with something small and green. without even stopping to check for damage (it looked like an apple or something) i whip around and race after them. these are somewhat woodsy, narrow, and winding back roads, so they're totally out of sight now. i'm assuming they turned down a side street. get to a stop sign about a half mile from the point of impact and decide they must have turned. turn around, proceed to slow down at each street and look down. sure enough, there they are approaching us from the right. i hit the brakes and back up right in front of them and ask, "care to explain anything?!" one basically said, "i'm sorry, we thought you were my sister!"
they squeeze through and take off. well, no way in hell they're getting away with this. i follow them, they take a few turns, i get on the phone and call the cops. they finally pulled over, so i stop in front of them and they keep pleading that one of their sisters has the same car (highly unlikely
) and that it was only a water balloon, they're sorry, etc etc... they take off again as i'm on the phone.
so i get out to check out the damage, quite a few scuffs and scratches on the first quarter or so of my driver's side fender. i'm steaming. go back to the point of impact to make sure it was indeed a water balloon, and sure enough there it is, still filled with water, on the side of the road.
go down to the police department and an officer comes out to take a complaint. as soon as i said saab convertable, she said they've had several reports in the past week about girls in this area throwing water balloons from a green saab convertable. now seriously, they claim they thought it was their sister, who the hell keeps water balloons in the car "just because" ?
anyhow, nobody else had gotten the license plate.
i REALLY hope that girl's daddy takes her saab away
unlikely that i can get them to pay for the paint damage (HOPEFULLY i can just buff it out)
sorry, i had to vent. it bothers me SO much that these stupid people in cars their parents paid for have ZERO respect for other peoples' property.
