so i have a 98 jetta and its a manual,,when i drive it hard my rpms will rev up by themselves like something is slipping i just put a new clutch in about 6 months ago,,,does this mean my transmission is bad??

The shop just replaced the clutch...I took it back up today and they're looking at it...they said it may be the clutch cabl...soo well see whe they call me later what the damage is....

Probably either the input shaft seal or the rear main seal peepeeing oil onto your clutch.
sometimes the clutch disc can be cleaned off and saved

said they didnt see any physical damage so theyre pulling the tranny to inspect it...which means alot of money i dnt have...:banghead::banghead::banghead:

Rear main engine seal was leaking oil onto my clutch they put a new seal and clutch disc in which was $500 to fix:banghead:

This...I cannot think of a shop that would not let the customer know, it is something that needs to be fixed while in there. It is a rule of thumb to replace it when doing clutch jobs. Either the mechanic did not at least tell you it should had been done..or he did and you said no. Either way..not good
