My father lives very far away I haven't really gotten much of opportunity to ride with him, but my mother says I drive exactly the same way he does. Same way of going fast in between cars without ever revving the engine, hold the shifter the same way, even the same "disregard" for rules as my dad apparently. If there's a red light and no cars coming, sometimes I'll just cross anyways, my dad does the same thing, same way of holding my drink between my legs towards my crotch even though there's cup holders. I squeeze my car in between the tightest spaces without touching the brakes when there's cars stopped on the road, same as my dad.
Also the same fascination with keeping my car spotless, difference is my dad has someone that washes his car every day, and I clean mine myself twice a week and keep it waxed. My dad can not stand a single scratch in his car, he will fix it instantly and usually repaint, if more than a couple panels need paint he'll just re-paint the entire car to match perfect, I am just as anal with my paint.

So have the rest of you inherited driving/maintenance styles from your folks??

Nope. Always get in arguments when he's driving because he drives way too slow :D.

Not really, driving a company truck has had more influence on my driving than anything else. I'm that guy with 3-4 car lengths between me and the car in front of me that gets cut off every morning.

Absolutely NOT...I would not keep going on 3rd gear at 70mph. He said there is no road to put 4th or 5th gear. WTF

I think me and the old man drive the same in that we both maintain a decent following distance when behind a car. My girlfriend on the other hand scares the **** out of me with how close she follows.

I see no problem with this... I do the same every now and then. Our country has become red-light crazy because stop signs are too hard for the dummies out there.
Sorry, maybe I was too blunt, it just hit close to home, I knew someone who got hit by someone running a red. Would it really kill you to wait a minute until it turns green? And you never know when a cop may pop up suddenly.

My sympathy goes out to you, but I wasn't referring to running red lights as they change from yellow to red. I meant sitting at a red light with no one in sight all around, and just going through like you would at a stop sign. They seem to just put stop lights up at every single intersection now, and it makes me so angry to be on a road with a 40-50 mph speed limit and come to a red light where only one person goes through. I understand it's for safety, but it wouldn't be necessary if people could actually judge speed and distance
