I called my dealer on Wednesday and asked when my car was going to be in. She said on June 7th (it has been June 7th for 2 weeks now). The next day she calls and says they got the car in. This was 5/23 (I believe). It is Black Magic Pearl and #197. Here's what I noticed.
- Monsoon Audio sounds good but lacks any bass. I drove my mom's 99 Toyota Sienna with standard audio and it blew the bass away. Sound is good and well distributed however; clear.
- Wheels look great but get dirty VERY quickly. They really do look great in person.
- Recaro's are great. Side bolsters don't hold as well as I thought but nonetheless they feel and look great.
- 3 Cupholders are way too many.
- Light switch seems flimsy as does the aluminum trim piece (with plaque) above monsoon.
I'm very happy with the car and it drives great! Those are just my opinions and there are a lot more things I like about the car but why go on and on....

Re: Got my 20th....My observations... (blackmagicgti)

Lacks bass?!?!? Are you nuts? I have to turn the bass below 0 for most songs - I couldn't believe when I found out that none of the 8 speakers were subs. Lacks bass...... are you serious? Maybe something is wrong with yours? I dunno....

But congrads on your car! Mine is 6 days old and I'm still on the pink cloud as I'm sure you are. Enjoy!!!!!

6.5" in both doors and both back seats area side panels
1" tweeters in both doors and above 6.5's in back.
8 total
your pads are grippy, but crazy dusty. i switched to Ferodo 2500's in my TT. CRAZY more grip, way lust dust. more dust than EBC greenstuff, but 10times the performance

What about Hawk HPS pads? That's what the "majority" is saying to use. How do they compare to Ferodo 2500's?

Side bolsters don't hold as well as I thought

??? Ok try to find bolsters that hold better on any stock car? Man it's the first time I hear this...

Maybe something is up with mine. Could be the CD. I'll try again.

I'm not saying that they're not better than most or all stock cars just that they dont hold me as well...let's try to keep calm...

lets see, i agree with grey, i was actually surprised how much bass the car was getting, but its still coming out on Friday.

my mp3 player > monsoon
its not that the wheels get dirty too easily, its that the brakes are pumping out some major brake dust, but what did you expect with great brakes

<3 the recaro's.
haha too many cupholders, bah....whatever.

You don't take the plaque off, you don't even touch it, maybe clean it, but its just there for show.

Don't be breaking that light.

Re: Got my 20th....My observations... (Nameci)

I'm gonna go check that bass. My dome light doesn't turn on when I open the doors (even when the setting is set to) so I wouldnt rule out that something may be up with the monsoon. Thanks for the comments. http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

Re: Got my 20th....My observations... (blackmagicgti)

yes the monsoon lacks bass. the cure, three 10 inch jl w7's. mmmmmmm......more bass

I can't remember if it was the SRT Neon or the SVT focus but I sat in one at the Chicago auto show and I had to work to get my fat a$$ in them they had so much support. Just another reason I chose the GTI

Re: Got my 20th....My observations... (blackmagicgti)

Get yourself a set of Hawx HPS. I've had mine on for 2 weeks, and ran them during 2 hours of hard track time. Their not even close to as dusty as my stock pads, and perform WAYYYYYYY better. http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

Re: Got my 20th....My observations... (TheGreasyJap)

i've used the :
Hawk HPS= decent pad fairly clean
Hawk HP plus= mind blowing pad. no fade, massive grip, dusty as all hell, noisy
Mintex red = decent all around
Mintec Ctech = not one good thing to say
Lucas = what you have now
EBC Greenstuff = pretty good bite, very low dust
Ferodo 2500 = their newest pad, SUPER grip even when cold, didn't get them to fade all day on the track. livable with dust (i have polished DTM wheels)
obviously just my 0.02c. i daily drive, do road trips, but also do canyon adventures and a good amount of track days

Huh? Are you referring to the stock pads? According to the original 25AE article Jamie put up over a year ago, the pads are Pagid 566's, and we were allegedly getting the same thing.. ?

Re: Got my 20th....My observations... (KevinC)

I've always had good luck with the Mintex Red's. Good stopping power and minimal dust in comparison to stock pads. I think I'll probably be going this route on my 20th very soon..I hate brake dust.

Add a subwoofer in the trunk. Easy and cheap to do. See the sticky thread at the top of the car audio and electronics forum. It helps a lot http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif
For the side bolsters: They are wire reinforced. For the seatback sit in the seat in a driving position and put your arms back and squeeze them in til they fit you. Makes them much more supportive on the lateral side. I guess you can do the same on the bottom too but all I did was the back and it helped a lot.
