Hi guys,

Does anyone know what hoses I need to make a A2 16v Golf rad work on my 16v a/c 'rocco? I searched - and can guess at the hose - but if anyone knows for sure it will save me special ordering the wrong part.

This was not an intended conversion - I ordered the correct rad, but they shipped the A2 rad instead. I was going to return it but while doing some searching online I noticed that the online parts stores that ship to Canada are using the same part # for both the A2 16v and Scircco 16v rads. Since getting this rad was a bit of an ordeal in the first place (and my wife wants her car back pronto) I figured it may be quicker to swap the hoses, if someone knows which I should get.

Thanks for your help!

Anthony

hot rod trick

Hey Anthony!

1. measure all hose nipples (14 nipple comments to follow!) lol
2. appx measure all runs and distances.
3. make a little diagram.

Go to NAPA talk nice, nice to the guy behind the counter....

Ask if you can go into their VAST hose locker....where there are 300 hoses hanging from hooks.
(my mudder hung me on a hook...once!)

Match em up.

I guess the hot rodders do it somehow - never really thought about it. If someone hasn't already figured it out I now know what to do as my next step. My old parts guy would of let me do this in a second - pity the independents eventually retire.

Thanks for the suggestion, Anthony

Actually... a bit of Canadian gossip for those who are interested. I went to our local Canadian Tire store, it's kinda like a Walmart & Advance Auto Parts/Pep Boys rolled into one minus the underwear section. When I asked for a Golf upper rad hose they told me they no longer stocked coolant hoses, or coolant even!

No Tberk, we're not drinking it , we're making maple flavoured cookies with it.
And hoses add a nice touch to any camp fire.

As for CacanTires not selling coolant anymore, they have some in stock here for 17,99.

Rad was changed for some reason on my S2 by PO for a bigger one (about 4'' wider).
I don't know which hoses were changed, though, and what difference it makes.
In fact, mine is a non a/c 8v... just wanted to canadian-gossip hehe.
What yer doin with your 1¢ ?
