When I first saw it I thought it was a Hot Wheels car.

That's not a bad thing for a MINI. I think the front is an improvement over the current R56. The taillamps have some serious Countryman in them, and that's NOT a good thing.

So basically it looks like the current car, just uglier?

In other news, I saw one of those Mini Cooper Van thingys yesterday. Between this and the paceman, someone at Mini has an amazing sense of humor.

looks smaller to me too, but that has to be an illusion. nobody downsizes cars anymore
That premise is slightly outdated. Plenty of cars are downsizing now and the trend of ever-larger cars is at an end.

And, they could afford to shrink the standard Mini hardtop if they had more plans for larger models.

The new Mazda 3s hatch is 1.8" shorter and a couple hundred pounds lighter.

In any event, this new car is not smaller. Excited to see the interior- it'll be a big win if doesn't have a cute-sy interior.

Keep telling yourself that 1.8" is a huge amount, I am sure all the ladies will believe you too.
he never said it was a huge amount, he was merely commenting that it was downsized. Is it or is it nort downsized? Yes it is, so your comment is stupid, as was unleashedd's.

From I've read it's supposed to be slightly bigger, new 3 cylinder engine and possibly diesel, Cooper S keeping hte current 1.6l turbo, and no more center speedo (but the dash shape looks roughly the same).
