I purchased my Corrado about 2 years ago, and have been dumping money and time into it ever since. inever really made a thread to document my progress so I figured I'd start one now. I'll slowly post my progress until I'm caught up to my current status, there will be a lot posted in the coming weeks because there has been a lot done.

After a few months of owning the car I got these rx-II's for free, bought some tires and threw them on the car, I liked it a lot more than the Audi wheels.
At this point I did a timing chain job and all the joys that came with it. I then decided I wanted new wheels so I got some bbs rs.

At this point I said **** it and threw the wheels on the same day I lowered the car on my new coilovers

at this point I was really quite happy with the car regardless of the wheels needing to be refinishing

Drove about a mile from home and hit some construction, mashed my pan up real good so a mk5 r32 oil pump and a chopped steal pan came next

And I convinced 2 dudes to take a quick picture with me bc I rarely see corrados so group shot it was!

The car felt great on the long ride home, cruised the whole way with no issues, thought the car was good to go, 2 days later the car had a no start issue and I said **** items tore into the car to do a head rebuild with 268 cams, lightweight lifters, heavy duty springs and ti retainers, along with an obd2 swap.

I also did a 2.9 euro clone intake at the same because racecar.

At some point the engine harness socket got corroded and a shop spliced it together, I'm just not about that life so I was happy to see this go with the obd2 swap.
Image

The new harness wrapped up and just about ready to go in.
Image

Got everything back together and ready to fire, we fired the motor, ran for about 20 minutes before this happened.

Exhaust valve cylinder number 1 snapped at the guide and fell in, during the break in, needless to say catastrophic engine failure occurred and a new motor was now needed. That's enough of an update for today, will update again soon.

^^^ ouch! Why did that happen after you put the work in?
I still can't be too sure, but the head had 2 bent valves which were replaced, the machine shop told this upon picking up the head, knowing that any valves were bent I would've just replaced all the valves. The shop building the motor trusted the machine shop that the head was good, they ran the motor for 20 minutes with slow revs, heard a noise, tried to pin point the noise and the motor blew up. They are friends of mine so we made a deal, I bought the motor and they would do all labor for free. So I agreed and they found me a 43k mile long block vr6 from a 98 gti, the motor was in New Hampshire iirc, had a bunch of surface rust, but we cracked it open, and the head was unbelievably clean inside. Rebuilt that head with all new valves, my 268's springs, lifters retainers etc.

Again I painted just about everything I could to make everything look nice and clean, makes me feel a little bit better about the bucket.

Working at the dealer has it's benefits, scored brand new OEM NOS leather shift knob and ebrake handle for pretty damn cheap.
Image

We all know this well by now.

Being a bit OCD and wanting to clean the entire car, I scrubbed the a exhaust tunnel completely clean for a few hours one day.
