I can't find a steering wheel removal DIY. And I am having troubles. Any help?
Its not hard there are two metric screws on the back of the wheel that hold the airbag in place, loosen those carefully pull the airbag out and disconnect it. Then if my memory serves me right I think its a 24mm nut that holds the wheel on the hub.

I know it's common sense, but disconnect the battery before removing the airbag. VW says you can pull it immediately after power is removed, but I'd wait a couple minutes to make sure all power is out of the system.

Yeah just remove the airbag and the big nut in the middle, wheel comes right off.

Yes as a general rule, always wait a few minutes between disconnecting the battery and messing with an airbag. Granted, 99% of the time you'd be fine disconnecting and reconnecting it without disconnecting the battery, but that 1% can have VERY serious consequences and is not worth risking by any means.

and you will throw air bag light if you do not have the key in the ignition turned on when you re-connect the negative battery cable after you get everything back together....IIRC
