Between this and the new Fusion, Ford sure is taking alot of styling cues from Aston Martin. You would think they used to own Aston or something....
No. The Fusion, ST, and Fiesta grilles are all patterned off the Mustang grille. The characteristic Aston grill has a pair of kinks that pinch the top of the grille inward, which the Mustang, Fusion, and other modern Ford grilles do not, and the proportions are very different. The Aston lower edge is straight, the Ford grill is bowed. It's a totally different shape and form.

So... am I the only Mustang fan thinking "yuck?" The grill/front end is okay... but everything else... blech. Just don't like it.

There's no Coke-bottle quarter-panel hump and I have a problem with that. That's my main gripe with the '05-'09s too.
I drive an '06 and I don't have a problem with its styling :p. This one just seems too softened in some ways, and then in other ways too overstyled.

I agree, this is bordering ugly save the grill (because the grill isn't terribly far from what we have now). Colour me skeptical that this is what it actually looks like now. I wish they would just show the damn thing already. It's almost November.

Really ?

The rear is nearly identical to the current car, with the midsection being the largest departure. I think it all works together to look modern yet distinctively like a Mustang.

That's the thing, from my chair here, I don't think it's distinctively Mustang. Maybe it's the wheels that are throwing me off, but it looks part British in some places (Aston references aside). The rear end is similar to the current one, but I've always hated the black decklid on the 2013+ and those taillights are godawful.

It has similar elements, but I think calling it "nearly identical" is a stretch. It has 6 brake lights and a large black 4-sided section in the middle... but... the current version, the lights are vertically oriented, and the section in the center is rectangular. On the 2015, they're angled outwards and the center section is more of a trapezoid. The line that shapes the bottom of the taillights also has a much wider arc in the new one than the old.

I'm not even in the market for a replacement Mustang, but if I were I'd look at a 2014 first.

I think if this rendering is legit, it's freaking hot. Also, for the love of Christ, quit with the goddamned Aston Martin talk. The front end is basically a more sophisticated version of the current front end, which is decidedly retro.

This needs to be in big flashing text at the start of every new Mustang thread, or even Ford thread for that matter.

That should do. And a picture for reference...
