So I want to the dealer to buy a 2.0 MAF yesterday....and the parts guy wouldnt sell it to me. He said that VW now need my name, adress, and vin number to buy any MAF. He said that VW is trying to cut down on how many are being replaced so there isnt any bad poblicty like the coil pack issue (BS). I think VW figured out that AWD engine code guys were using them and that they were lossing 100 bucks every time they did. Were is the best place to order them one line??

Just stroll on over to the used car lot and write down a VIN before you buy. Fugging dealerships.

haha thats what I would do! http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

the reason they asked for the vin and such is that that maf is prone to failure.
lots of 2.0l need them, under warranty.
so due to the warranty demand all 2.0 maf's are ordered for a perticular car/customer.
thats another reason they are cheap right now (cause vw has to buy them)
as soon as the problems are fixed the price will go sky high.
v.o.a. sux

They won't sell you a part "to cut down on how many are being replaced".

Homer: [trying to disguise his voice] Hello, my name is Mr. Burns. I believe you have a letter for me.
Postal Clerk: Okay, Mr. Burns, uh, what's your first name?
Homer: [brief pause] I don't know.[outside on the steps of the post office] Great plan, Bart.

i think it is totally rediculous that they are asking for a VIN. If it is your car you should not have to give them a vin!
Tell them it is for a friend. And/or get the info off a used car on the used car lot and make up a name and address!

not only do they need a vin but they ussually need a repair order # also.
that means that they install it not you.

I have yet to hear any of this and I get one a day usually. but thats through the techs counter. Also it would be illegal for them not to sell it to you becuse they can not force you to get your car worked on by them and at the same time parts must be available for a new car sold in the US for 10 years or something like that.
