Airbag light on - safe to drive?

Just got hit by a small bus that slammed me into the car in front of me, then the bus hit me again. My head hurts. I STF'd and found that the airbag light being on means the airbag system is deactivated. The light is solid and stays on continuously. When I start the car the DIS says "Airbag Fault".

I was able to drive home, but am trying to figure out if I can drive it to the shop, or if I need to get it towed.

I'm sure I could search more and find some better threads, but it's kinda hard with my vision being this blurry. Your help is much appreciated.

thats a gray area giving advice on what you should do???

with you getting hit yes there prob something wrong with the system but yea thats all on you and your safety

Go to the ER and get checked out. If it was not your fault, have the car picked up and charge it to the person who hit you.

Screw the car though get yourself fixed. Trust me I have been screwed up from someone hitting me.

I've got a doctor's appointment in an hour. I took the car into the shop. They said the seatbelt fired, and that sets off the airbag light. (Though it might not be the only reason.) They took a look at it, but need it for a few days to determine how bad the damage is. They noted the wrinkles on each side near the roof are a bad sign. The spare tire compartment is compressed enough neither the foam blocks nor the spare tire will come out.

The seat moved quite a bit. Not sure why that happened, but it was several inches farther back after the crash. My sunglasses were in the pocket by the rear view mirror. It was open, and my sunglasses ended up in the back seat.

KBB puts it at $10.5k. Chances are it's totaled. I'm going to be really sad about it because I can't find another one like it. 4dr, 6mt. Rare combo. Sure it has 120k, but the original owner had a long, open highway commute and a prefect service history. Interior is in great shape. Engine is clean with no leaks. I had a seal on the AC replaced, the TB and water pump done, VCGs, and other than oil, filters, plugs... it's needed nothing else.

There's no way I'm going to find another 4dr 6mt GTI in this condition for that much.

Yeah just imposible to find This one also has WAY lower miles too 42K

I mean there is more then 10 on auto trader that are 4 door manual gray and in that price range. Some with allot less miles.
