Are there any noise indication that the DV has failed? Thank you for the help.

i dont recall any noise just an obvious lack of low end power, if the deterioration is progressive you may not notice the change as you just adapt
Thank you for the help.

Thought mine had gone as it was original from '06 and was getting a Phhht! when I floored it.

Was getting also misfire Cyl4 on hi-revs to red line -- just the one and not again after going limp mode, pulling off motorway, stopping and re-starting again. This was after dealer did free recall change coils ('06MY 2.0L tFSI) They took it back twice and also changed plugs for NGKs.

Meantime came over to MD and bought AWE Tuning's DV kit. Got back, found all OK and no Phhhht! without changing out DV. Dealer said they hadn't changed anything. Recently checked on Dyno and at 5.500rpm gives 232bhp (Superchips re-flash). Read the posts and you'd think all original factory fitted DVs tear their diaphragms which is why VW issued an updated one.

Meantime have done a VCDS check requested boost vs actual with Wastegate duty cycle vs revs and load too. My tuner says all's well from the .csv file I sent them. Go figure!

Get yourself a 115 VCDS check -- you can see the results graphically too in VCScope

I replaced mine after I got a code about the turbo. After doing some research on here and everywhere else Passat related, I decided that it was a bad DV. Bought an AWE DV from ECS and installed it. So far, no issues and she runs great.

This is just my experience, though. If you could get a thorough test with VCDS, do so. I'm actually going to be purchasing a cable very soon :)

Nope nevee had a noise, just lack of boost and poor acceleration
