The only surprising thing I heard was that there are no other cars actually produced IN Detroit anymore; I'd assume all the assembly plants have been moved? Fact check?

I hate to be a stickler but those are trucks.:laugh:
What about GM's Detroit-Hamtramck assembly plant?
Lies supported only by technicality. There are two factories in the actual city of Detroit, the Connor Avenue assembly plant which produces the Viper, and the Jefferson North plant that produces the green Cherokee and Durango. Technically speaking, this makes the Viper the only "car" made in Detroit proper. That said, there are many other cars that are made within the metropolitan city of Detroit, but the factories postal address happens to be in a suburb. The F150 is made in Dearborn, the Chrysler 200 is made in Sterling Heights, ram pick ups are made in Warren, Focus is made in Wayne, and probably others I'm forgetting.
Technically, like the city of Farmington being contained within Farmington Hills, Hamtramck is a city within Detroit.
There is no advantage to having a production facility within Detroit as workers have to pay 3% of their hard-earned money, only to have it thrown in a money pit. Even if you live in the suburbs you have to pay Detroit income tax.
Clearly you missed the point. Most "imports" are not imported either.
Chyrsler was playing on the fact that people seem to think the term "import" is good, like "oh, get that one, it's better, it's imported".

I don't believe that is true.
Detroit Diesel used to be one of my customers. The factory lies in the middle of the border between Detroit and Redford. Employees whose desks are situated on the Detroit side of the line have to pay Detroit income tax. Those on the Redford side don't.
I'm sure that sets up some interesting office politics.

Yes, you pay 1.5% regardless of where you live and another 1.5% for the pleasure of having no services, to speak of, to show for it.
Technically, they're not even making the Viper in Detroit - at this moment. :laugh:
