I tried mounting my rims tonight as a test, with my luck, the front wheels do no clear the caliper, by about 2-3mm.
Is it safe to grind down the caliper about 5mm?[with a die grinder]
it is the part that looks like a hook/arm...not the part that holds the pad that looks like a rectangle
not my car but this is the part im talkign about.

i cant use spacers, because my offsets are as wide as my fenders will allow already.
my only option is the grind down the caliper, grind down the inner wheel, or return the wheels...

Re: Grinding down Brake Caliper [up to 5mm]......still safe? (SuckaFree)

i have done them before ..........safe ?? i dont know nor would i recomend

but mine worked fine ......use a 4or6" angle grinder and dont just do one spot make sweeping motonsand try not to get them really hot in one spot also try the rims frquently ...also if u use new brake pads and cut the calipers for old ones u will have to do it again lol

shoulda figured that out before you got the wheels... I'd suggest rolling / pulling the fenders 5 mm, or selling the wheels and getting the offset 5mm less...

i was assured by the seller/supplier that the offsets were going to clear my brake setup.
i have my fenders rolled, but i dont have the funds for pulling them.
for those of you who have grinded down...
how long have you been driving on them like this?
thanks.

i cant be selling these rims off.
i waited 2months for these things.
im gonna buy 5mm spacers today,
if the spacers give enough room for the brake, and they dont look too wide up front, then ill leave them.
if not im grinding them down.
but im guessing, everyone who has grinded down the calipers has had no problems with their brakes after...?
