I agree. I did it last week. Felt like crap but I rushed the shift. It happens. If you say you have never stalled or ground a gear, you are lying.

Depends on how he drives. If he shifts really slowly and presses the clutch all the way in every time it's possible.
OP's granny shifting not double clutching.
You would really have to grind it hard constantly to do any damage to the syncros. They can take a beating.
I've given up on the Internet about grammar. Everywhere I look it's "I've owned 3 S4's" this and "My friend has 4 M3's" that.

I've never crunched gears. I also don't pee in the shower and have never put a nearly-empty carton back in the fridge or eaten a grape at the supermarket.

Except it's normally a 3rd gear grind ... f*cking SIs. Every. Single. One. I looked at had the 3rd gear grind. Sum biatch.

In my 06 Si, I had 1st to 2nd grind, and only 2nd to 3rd when it was cold, though that was more of a "it literally won't go into 3rd" than a grind. I would just shift from 2nd to 4th.
In my 10 Si, I had 1st to 2nd grind, but only on hard shifts.

I've been known to bump the reverse lockout a couple times when shifting from 4th to 6th The grinding is enough to remind you that the R on the gearknob does not mean "Rapido"
I ran Amsoil MTF in my '08, and the only grinding I experienced was caused by user error. Good stuff. It was occasionally hard to get into 3rd when the car was dead cold, but I've never driven a manual that wasn't a bit finicky when cold. Then again, pretty much every single used Si out there has been beaten to piss, so it might be hard to find a good one.
Even my brand-spanking-new Accord takes a little bit of an extra nudge to get into 6th on a cold transmission. I'll probably swap to Amsoil around 30k.
Wow, it seriously took #26 posts for this to be said. I was almost worried for a second.
