This is about the third time this has happened to me now--at random times, on start up of the car, I get the TPM light and ESC light on in the dash. It usually takes up to a few minutes for them to disappear, but they have gone away each time. This is my first car with this sort of technology (I came from an oooold Saab), so I'm not sure if this sort of thing is an expected electrical blip, or if it's something to be concerned about.

At this point I only have about 400 miles on my GTI, and have had it for a little over a month. I'm going back to the dealer later this week to pick up plates, and am thinking of having them check this, as well as a couple other small things. Just wondering if I'm the only one experiencing this, and if it's within the realm of "normal" or not.

I just experienced this today. Twice. Once when leaving for work first thing this morning. And another heading to the gym tonight. Didn't happen the other times I started today. I have vagcom but haven't tried scanning for anything yet. It went away both times almost immediately after I started driving. I'm up to 700 miles now.

I had this a few times my first week w/my car. I checked tire pressure and then set the TPMS in the Car settings in the dash. No lights since (knocks wood).

op this happened to me as well. A few weeks back I had a nail in the tire and not only did my TPMS light come on (like it should) but my ESC stabilizer light too.

Then just last week both lights came on again this time I checked the TPMS menu and everything was fine drove a few feet and lights cleared.

I would definitely bring it up! I'm not sure which dealership you got it from but I know for sure Herzog is really good with customer service and making sure everything is to your standards

There was an older thread about this too...seemed that most people were experiencing something similar within the first 2k miles with the car...something about the electronics "learning" or something like that. Happened to me a while back, turned car off, checked things out, turned car back on and haven't seen a sign of one since.

Thanks for the feedback! I'm glad I'm not the only one. Seems like no one who replied has been able to pinpoint any consistency in the issue (me neither). I will definitely ask the dealer this week, I'll report back if there's any notable news.

Try setting the tire pressures (verifying they are correct) in the Car Settings. I've seen zero errors since I did this. And, it can't hurt to a) verify your tires are @ correct pressure, and b) tell the ECU this.

After 3 months of ownership happened to me for the first time today. Day after seeing this post, lol.

Left the car with hazard lights and turned it off as I went to pick something up. Started it 5 minutes later and both errors showed up ESC and tire pressure.

Drove for a minute restarted the car and all was good. Havent seen it again. Weird. Software bug is my guess.

finally got this checked out by the dealer, heard back today that they fixed some related wiring and want to test drive to make sure that took care of the problem. fingers crossed. if that's the case, it looks like these errors getting thrown were just a symptom of that wiring problem as opposed to any actual TPM or ESC issues.

also have the car in for a problem with brake caliper brackets, at the same time. no ETA on parts for that yet. guh.
