Hello my fellow Ottawan - I do have a 14' Genesis Coupe 3.8

Here are my impressions (in a nutshell) (I have about 12k on the odo at the moment)

Love the car all around, very fun, quite fast, sounds pretty nice (with the 3.8 - the sound tube is better than the noise through the speakers to be honest). The one thing that bothers me, is the drive-by-wire throttle system. Don't kid yourself, it is very laggy. (frankly drives me nuts.. easy remedy, buy a tune), the shifter is rubbery, and if you're not careful, and if you rush it, the shifter will hang up on you. Easy remedy is to buy a better short throw with bushings.

No it does not require premium fuel - as both 2.0T and 3.8 can run regular safely. You just loose a couple horsepower in the process. Not a big deal. The 19's are heavy though. The GT (track?) suspension is not the best suspension, as it's stiff, but a tad wallowy on rebound. That can be aided by suspension improvements. (rigid collars, coilovers, etc.)

If you have any more questions, let me know!

I know it's practically new, but any reliability/quality issues to report? I quite like these myself.

My father owned an '11 from late-2010 to very early-2014 and had not one single issue with car. No CEL, no nothing. The only real quirk with the car was that the car didn't like being run down past 1/2 tank: It'd cough and sputter on startup after being parked. Having said that, that could have been just due to him living in hilly San Antonio and nine times out of ten, being parked on a slight grade.

Many thank yous. :beer::beer:

are you driving it in the winter?
Yes I am! Bought a set of 17" Mustang wheels that somehow fit over the Brembos and they work well. It's fine to drive it in the winter.. just, as with all cars, be careful and you're fine.
The car loves to drift though.

@Crimping: Nothing to report yet.. everything has been pretty good so far (knock on wood)..

I'm surprised this car doesn't get even a smattering of attention.

Think about it this way: over 20 years, Hyundai evolved this car from a FWD underpowered 2-door version of a 4-door penalty box, to a proper RWD platform with a couple of real engines.

Why are these unloved?

Most people think the front end is not very attractive (the 13's on).. maybe thats why?

Because the Mustang exists. Better looks, better value.

Panel gaps, paint quality, and occasional douchey dealer people.

besides that I liked my 2011

You drive a SC Tbird!? Nice! I loved those! (still have a soft spot for them) - wicked!

But yeah, won't have much a problem.. just don't be a tool, and you'll be good.

Someone mentioned paint quality? I haven't heard any issues about this.. but I can tell you the paint quality is a million times better than the WRX STi I had before. I don't really notice the window droop either (windows are tinted)..

Also, some people actually do swap in the 1st generation front end on the 2013's. Get the looks, and the power.
