Hey Guys!

I totaled my Mk6 Golf this week in a snow storm, so now I am looking for a new car.

I am interested in the Mk7 R, but Ill be honest in that I am kind of ify on the new R. I think the Mk6 externally looks more aggressive and the interior is more simple. What really turns me off on the new MK7 R is the shiny/glossy dash and radio. I think it cheapens the look of the car.

Ideally, I would wait for the 2016 if possible but Ill need a car now. I like hatches and need AWD which really narrows down my selection choice. I have thought about the S3 but again I would prefer a hatch.

How are MK6 owners liking the MK7?

Would seem the Mk7 is too sophisticated and well done for your low-class tastes. Maybe an old Escort or Corolla?

I traded my mk6r and have zero regrets, the 7R feels much tighter and not to mention just as quick as my stg 1 6R. The DSG takes some getting used too but I am starting to really like it. The sky seems to be the limit as far as power potential down the road. I do miss the front of my mk6 but the sharpness in the 7 design is really stands out when you get used to her. +1 make the move

Anyone "regret" they went with the DSG? Anyone else waiting for the 6MT?

Nope. DSG is great. Glad I won't have to pay $2000 for a clutch installed just so my car can handle stage 2 levels like I had to on the mk6 R

the 7 is a far superior car hands down. I had a stage 3 MK 6 and I like this one better. I feel with stage 1 tune whoever you go with it will be just as fast as a stage 3 mk 6 with WAY less money put into it.

the dsg is great I have zero regrets going with it. that's part of why this car is so much faster.

this one gets better mileage

this one has adaptive suspension

this one has so many nice touches in the interior

I'd love for you to find someone that switched that regrets the switch it really is that much better of a car...some people might have minor gripes like "the front end of the 6 looks better" if that is the only gripe that says something. and the 7 looks better in person than in pics it really grows on you ill put it that way.

the only thing I personally like better about the 6 is the steering wheel. I feel the 6 steering wheel was beefier and the lower bulges is where I hold my wheel the most so I do miss those from the 6 but like I said this car is just so much better in so many ways I can deal with the wheel

I will say the paint quality took a major hit on the mk7 as I just installed opti-coat after owning her less than two months and I have a lot of small and a fair amount of medium rock chips. On my mk6 I didn't install it until a year later and my front end was no where near the war zone it is now. VW really **** the bed by cutting costs on what was the biggest plus I noticed on my 6. At this point a clear bra is pointless and will just have to look into a front end respray years down the road if the mk8 doesn't sway me.
