So I have the APR stage 1 tune along with a few other goodies and near the end of last year I started noticing some slip. I had the tune done at 7000km and I'm sitting at 24k now. my car is going I to the shop tomorrow and they are replacing the factory clutch with a southbend stage 2 endurance clutch/flywheel combo. I will update once I've had a chance to drive it a bit but I'm hoping to get some thoughts or opinions from anyone else who has done the same.

good luck, i replaced mine about 3months ago but i went with the tt-rs setup because it has zero chatter.

i heard and seen southbend has a bit of chatter at idle, espically with ac on..

keep us updated how it goes..

Flashing to stage 2 at the same time? I have my RSR clutch waiting to be installed as well. Just curious how much power we're losing with stock clutch even at stage 1 tune.

I'm probably gonna wait a few months before I go ahead with stage 2. I have a dp and intake so I'm ready, I just want to break the new clutch in before I go adding more power. Man I can't wait for the new clutch to get installed

Nice!
If you don't mind me asking, how much did the dealership charge you for install? I was quoted $900 (which is crazy talk) for labor at my preferred shop & $450 at another reputable shop in town. I would prefer to have the dealership do it, I need to call and get a quote.

So I got the car back. Clutch pedal pressure is quite a bit more vs. Stock. Also it feels like there is less upward travel in the pedal. Almost like it was adjusted so that after an inch or so the clutch engages. Haven't stomped on it really yet but once I've broken it in I'll open error up. I'm hearing a weird noise coming from the tranny now I don't know if it's called chatter or whatever but I only hear it when I'm in motion.

Indeed. I got a SB clutch a few months ago and was suprised. Make sure your BREAK it in. They said 1000 miles. But once you do, you won't regret it.

So just regular driving G and no stomping on it for a month or so. No problem

Lol 1000 miles a month? That's like a week and a half for me.

Is your clutch a smf? Ive heard of a couple tdi guys who swapped in smf's and ruined synchros. Is that a tdi vibration thing or does that happen in the gas cars as well?

pedal travel will get better, break it in, there should be zero noises while in motion maybe a little chatter at idle with sb, mines quiet as a church mouse, at idle and driving.. for rsr clutches

Mine is a southbend stage 2 endurance. I wouldn't say that it's chatter as I've watched a few youtube Vids of guys recording chatter and that's not it. It's more like a quiet whirring noise I'm hearing

Car feels great but while accelerating normally I'm getting a small amount of lag when hitting 100km/hr in third gear. Everything before that and everything after is fine. So wierd

So now that you've had this in for a while, I'd love to know how it's going. My 2012 GLI has about 66k miles on it and with the APR Stage 1 tune I'm noticing some slipping. A bit more feel through the pedal would be appreciated, and I wouldn't mind a little extra weight either.

Also curious to know your impressions of the ECS dogbone insert.

Thanks!
