Does anyone know if VW voids warranties for ECU mods? I drive an Audi and they've since started cancelling warranties for it. Anyone have any guidance? Thanks.
As the old saying goes, "when you mod, you are your own warranty"

if you cannot accept the fiscal responsibility of when something goes wrong.... don't mod.

when people have VW (or Audi) pay for their mistakes, this is why over the years, they have become increasingly restrictive on covering mods

You can always flash back to stock before vising a dealer, doing this does not flag your car (from what I have seen and heard). Of course if you are Stage 2 or above this is harder to do (taking off HW parts as well in some case).
You could get away with it like that, or get Eurodyne which allows you to flash your own ECU at home, Unitronic is coming out with a similar solution as well.
Having mof friendly dealer does not help a lot since they cannot stop the car from being flagged when plugged in to VW tool, they can however not plug it in or advise you before doing it.

Having said all that if you do decide to play you should expect to pay as well (in worst case scenario).

Personally I will tune my car once I am approaching end of the Warranty.

It would be just a stage 1 mod. Beyond that, I'd just get a faster car. Will I need to flash things at a mod friendly dealer?
I never had issues. I'm also up front about all my mods.

If you try to lie and conceal your mods, they tend to be less forgiving. So, if your honest with the dealer, they tend to want to work with you

Sent from my iPhone. There may be horrible grammar and misspelling involved

Yes, TD1 can be flagged by the tech. Find a mod friendly dealer.
No such thing as a "mod friendly dealer" any more. You wanna play, you gotta pay...even if it means giving up your warranty. There's ways around it, but is it really worth the hassle?

Hell the techs wouldn't rotate my tires during a 25k service because they were aftermarket...it's all about liability nowadays.

Come out to SoCal and I'll show you a few that are.
It helps that you are friends with the techs, service writer and salesmen.
SoCal has many local events and the same people above will show up and represent.
