I'm new to cars. its an 02 gti 1.8t automatic. i want to tint and lower it and sell it off to try and buy a stick. I'm only 18 but ill have two jobs that pay min wage around $8. any tips on where to start? I'm looking for raceland coilovers and an APR stage 1 tune. any thing i should do? I'm i going at this in the wrong direction

car runs perfect, only slight body blemishes, i run synthetic oil and I've got no check engine. I'm on top of oil changes i just wanted to know where to start mod wise
Do you know the timing belt history? That's the biggest maintenance item.

Why would you modify a car you already know you want to sell in favor of something else? Adding tints and cheap coils is going to cost you money and depreciate the resale value of the car. Leave it stock and keep up on maintenance, save your money and mods for a car you plan on keeping.

well what i wanted was a stick model, I'm afraid of blowing my trans when i kick shift manually with the auto trans. other than that id like to keep the car. does anyone know how i could keep it from blowing like any precautions i should take other than shifting in the low rpms?

As someone who has been running racesland coilovers....do not get raceland. After a year or two you are going to have problems. I had to replace my rear shocks last year with beilstiens cause racelands gave out. Now my rear springs make crimping noises. I would invest more money into konis or others.

Apr tune is reliable but not aggressive for mk4s. I had apr tune for years but now I'm running motoza tune and like it much better. It makes more power, and I got launch control for free, something that apr doesn't even offer, not to mention motoza is at least $100 cheaper and in my opinion much better.

If you are planning on selling your gti no point of modding it because you will never ever ever get the money you put in to it back. Sell your gti and buy a vw with a stick if that's your goal.

But mod wise I would do: exhaust, intake, intercooler, tune, rims, coilovers. Those are your basics. But like others mentioned maintenance is #1.
