Well the sti isn't exactly the same as the wrc spec one either, though thats primarily due to its engine.
If sales for the a3, gti, and r32 skyrocket in the US, i guess we would see ford bring the RS out here too.

Have you seen the specs for the RS? It doesn't even hope to compete with the EVO or STi, and can't even keep up with the regular WRX.

The RS beats the pants off the regular WRX. I bring up Top Gears test again where the RS beat the WRX on a track by 4 seconds, the R32 by one second and the Civic Type R by a couple seconds.
It does perform. Its no STI, but it will take a WRX in most situations other than maybe 0-60 and 1/4 mile of which the EVO and STI take seriously and are king in.

This is the same track tested by Top Gear that the Audi S4 beat the BMW M3 by 3 secs.
However, I'm starting to not trust Top Gear, SCC magazine and others has tested the Audi S4 and M3 and the M3 beats the new Audi S4 every time.
The RS is a fast car but we won't know just how fast unless it is brought over here.

Not sure what Top Gear you saw, but the one that I saw with the S4 and the M3 had the M3 beating the S4 on the track and the track was even wet which should have given the advantage to the Audi. So again, dont try to make false quotes to try to prove your point.

Just saw the new SCC and it had alot of nice articles besides the EVO Vs Germans.

Actually, I have seen that video of the S4 beating the M3 around the track.
But the M3 canned the S4 in the straight. Ok, maybe not canned, but pretty close.

I'd say its biased because its sport compact car. Lets say that the germans totally trounced the evo in every respect(definatly not the case), I doubt they would have run the article. However, when the numbers are much closer its more contraversal and it sells magazines.
While I don't care for the 8's styling (6 was the best, 7 was ok, 8 doesn't look good and they need regular lights) it is a great car (though they shouldn't have decontented it for the US). I'd love to buy one in a couple of years as a rally beatur.
As for the german cars, they have a much more refined/smooth feel. some people like it, others dont. I do, though I would love to have bought an M3 csl more than my stripped m3 due to the weight savings and 20 extra hp. Too bad we don't get those here.When I want a raw driving experience I ride my motorcycle.
